Copado Solutions
When we have a large organization and number of changes and deployments are more than we should go for Copado. As we know it is a paid managed package and the cost is high so for dealing with fewer deployments it is not preferable to buy. Copado is well suited for users who don't have much technical understanding. So those users can see the User interface select the changes that need to be deployed by selecting the metadata. From Git operation to deployment all is handled by Copado itself. Copado has reduced the efforts for creating the package.xml and direct deployments can be done within a few clicks. Another Major aspect is that it can be directly synced with Jira or Azzure board from where the user stories will be synced and actions can be performed accordingly. For small organization, Copado can be expensive and to set up and maintain we need a technical person to do so.

Postman
Postman is good for organising your API credentials, vendor settings, environments etc. It's also a good way of getting stared with APIs as you get to use a GUI which can help you understand what we mean by a 'body' or 'bearer token'. I think people generally gravitate towards GUI tools for getting started in a new technology area.

Stoplight
API mocking, testing, and sharing are all built in functions for StopLight that work quite well. They even have functionality for generating OAI and RAML code as well, which is a huge plus. AS for as areas where StopLight is not appropriate, if you're doing anything other than API testing, StopLight may not be appropriate for use.

Postman
  • It has opened a door for me to explore more out of it, as it is associated with so many APIs that I never felt any difficulty in finding the right API template, which are well organized and easily available.
  • It is very secure to use and provides great services which are user-friendly.
  • Due to this software I have got rid of the excessive emails and the slack channels, Now I am using my own private API and even it give me an option to produce my personal Postman’s API Builder from its Private API Network and this features has shared my excessive workload.

Cons
Copado Solutions
  • In deployment, the Query can be lost when editing, which can cause a lot of problems.
  • The Query option is cumbersome, but it works!
  • The deployment instructions fields could be made into rich text fields which would be awesome.

Postman
  • Wherever you need to automate tests that involve database verification or rely on data from databases, Postman is less suitable.
  • Postman's disc usage is extremely high, and it occasionally causes the computer to fade.
  • It doesn't have the ability to generate random data. To achieve randomness in my tests, I've been working around scripts.

  • Simplicity of set up. Although it's not difficult, there are tools out there that are easier to set up for testing endpoints.
  • Again, it's perfectly functional, but some competitors I think have a more user friendly UI to them.

Usability
Copado Solutions
very good user interface. It has reduced tons of manual efforts for the developers. Very easy to validate the release work. Easy to club multiple stories into one deployment. We can integrate Copado with our JIRA and all the PR’s are visible under the user story on JIRA board. But this can be overwhelming for beginners

Postman
1. Friendly user friendly - when I started using Postman, I was a beginner to the API world, and it gave me a friendly view to begin its usage 2. Postman offers many features, including API testing, monitoring, documentation, and mock servers 3. Environment variables simplify testing across multiple environments (dev, prod) without repetitive configuration.

Postman
There is a lot of in-depth documentation for Postman available online, including detailed guides with screenshots and videos. They provide example APIs for new users to explore while learning how to use the tool. Generally, bugs in the client are quickly addressed through frequent free updates. Community and professional support options are available - most of the time, the free/community level support is adequate

Copado Solutions
There are tools such as ANT migration tool or using sfdx but Copado makes the deployments super simple. If a user is not that technically strong still he can use Copado and deploy the changes in a few clicks. Copado provides a complete package of maintaining the development and repositories in a common platform. There are pipelines that you can set that changes will move from which org to the final org in a very organized manner. We can perform static code analysis at the time of deployment of the changes and we have to clear those if we need to deploy the changes. Creating pull requests is super easy and can be managed by Copado itself. Overall a superb managed package for deployment in Salesforce.

Postman
Previous to using Postman, I would either use browser tools directly, or write an in-house tool to send requests. Postman eliminates that need while providing a much better experience and more features. At the base level, Postman is as simple as typing in the address as you would in a browser. Authentication can be provided simply as well.

I'd like to also throw Runscope and Fiddler into the mix. Between StopLight and all these competitors, we've chosen StopLight primarily for the support, ease of use, and reliability. Most tools out there today are top-notch, so it really comes down to personal preference and different use-cases. Having used other API testing frameworks, StopLight definitely stacks up against the competition.

Return on Investment
Copado Solutions
  • It has reduced the efforts to create package.xml manually and deploy the changes
  • Another positive impact is that we can track the commits to which org they have reached in an organized way and we don't need to maintain them separately
  • For setting Copado it take a lot of time and training is required for the complete setup which is time-consuming

Postman
  • Postman is free (although there's a paid tier that offers more features) so using it for testing APIs comes with little to no risk (besides learning curve).
  • The learning curve is a little steep for non-developer users, but developers should find it easy to pick up and use right out of the box, so to speak.
