Likelihood to Recommend I really can't think of a video editing scenario that would NOT be suited for. It's quite robust and intuitive. It's quite appropriate for all levels of video editing that I have any need for - and you can really make it just about as complex or simple as you'd like.
Read full review From simple streaming to bigger events, OBS has been able to handle all of it with full confidence from us. Have never questioned if it was going to be unreliable in a specific situation, even with minimal training. Software identified the external input source easily and had no issues setting that up (Blackmagic Mini Recorder), and great for pulling in separate audio from the computer input.

Read full review Cons I would like a library of additional resources such as transitions I would like to see available work and templates that can be downloaded to speed up processing More video demonstrations/teaching would be nice Read full review editing-montaging videos easier way to adjust webcam image (templates) i wish mic choice would show up in the window. sometimes the wrong mic is selected and notice too late (after recording) Read full review Usability It keeps simplicity and power in one program at a very fair retail price. Features are clearly marked and I feel spending about an hour with the program will make it a valuable asset to most organizations. Great for creating videos based on templates and a need for quantity. I can't imagine anything easier or better.
Read full review Very usable because it is free and has had a lot of people helping to suggest improvements and sponsors have allowed the product to grow in sophistication and suitability across a variety of situations and use needs. It is very logical to use once you get started, although the dashboard can seem intimidating at first.

Read full review For a free product, a range of support is available. There are plenty of ways to find out answers to questions, because there are probably thousands of people using the product who are willing to share what they have learned. It usually works as designed, so needs for support are limited.
Read full review Alternatives Considered I haven't reviewed any other products, as I've been using [Corel] VideoStudio for 10 years now. I really don't have a need to switch.
Read full review I have also used TinyTake by Mango Apps and I prefer OBS studio because the video quality results are better and OBS allows you to record an unlimited length of the video. OBS also lets you record an entire screen instead of manually having to draw your parameters, which can create oddly sizes videos if you miss by a few pixels.
Read full review Return on Investment Clearly stated goals and presentations A fun, anti-boring way to present new ideas and/or past success Has effectively shown an important opinion; it gets the message across in a sharp, exciting way in a space where many struggle to capture attention Read full review Cost is free, so any benefits are immense in terms of investment. Learning curve is steep, so time can be a cost. Flexibility is probably the biggest benefit to the people that use it. Read full review ScreenShots
