Foundation Software Construction Accounting vs. Kashoo

Working as a general contractor or subcontractor, I highly recommend Foundation Software Construction Accounting. I would not recommend it for anything outside construction, but it could still be used for other businesses.

Kashoo is well suited if you have the time to learn the system. Because after that, it becomes a breeze. But if you're new to this stuff and don't have an accountant, you may be struggling to understand exactly what you need to do or where you need to click.

• Invoicing - I can create an invoice and email it directly from within Kashoo. When a payment is received, it is simple to enter the transaction and mark it as paid.
• Projects - I can assign a Project to a transaction. This way I can get a detailed picture of a specific project on which we are working. I can run a P&L report of just that project or the whole company.
• Reconcile - Reconciling is a snap when you connect the account to the bank online.
• If you are doing bookkeeping for more than one company, Kashoo has support for that. You can easily switch between companies as needed.

• I think A/P Invoice approval could be much smoother.
• Purchase orders should be more detailed able to be issued and easily modified and enter invoices against them.
• A/P check distribution should let you select checks for ACH payment and printed check in the same run.

• The UI is not nice at all - even with a UI refresh, it still didn't look that great
• The UX is rough as well - it's not as easy to use until you get used to it - high learning curve

There are some things it lacks, certain reports or history audits. I have to call them to do certain things-submit a ticket and wait on someone to call back instead of getting someone immediately. Especially if it's urgent. I have to wait on them to push an update-and they usually run a week or 2 later- to pull quarterly or annual tax forms.

I give Foundation Software Construction Accounting this rating because once you learn the software and how detailed its with multiple steps to complete transactions, it is very user friendly and keeps you from making user errors.

Kashoo is by far the most intuitive and easy to use accounting/bookkeeping solution I've tried, and after using it for several years I'm pleased that it delivers a consistent experience. No surprises, it just works. I don't want to spend any more time than I have to attend to bookkeeping, and Kashoo allows me to do just that.

Support is usually pretty great. Most of the time return calls to tickets logged are fairly quick. Most everyone is knowledgeable and helpful.

They were not helpful in resolving my issue on the change to my lifetime deal, and I am not happy with their support. They didn't care at all

the person from them was impatient and would make comments about we've been over this

Personally,
I did not have a hand in deciding the software, but for our company is has not
led to increased productivity or made things easier. It has been more difficult
for payroll to be inputted correctly and the payroll reports for certified
payroll often come out incorrect and we need to manually figure out how to correct
the issues and get them in correctly

No yearly license fees with Kashoo lifetime plan and it includes a mobile app and mobile integration with the desktop version. I can do everything I need to do in Kashoo so there is no need for bloated old Quickbooks
