Geotab
Geotab is a good product. I think ultimately it falls short in the clunky-ness of the program. If you are not intending to have users utilize the website and instead are going to feed data into a BI tool I think it would be a great product. I think if you are aiming to have the website utilized by your users and are looking for a one-stop-shop to drive your end-users to for reporting and data and are aiming to manage the program out of the program itself—I would not recommend it. I think the UI and UX clunky-ness is a hindrance and will lead to a lot of training because the learning curve is so steep. If you have a large Training team owning this and can swing that, it would be fine. However, if you are scrappy and looking for minimal need to train and re-train and want something intuitive and with a low learning curve, this is not it.

McLeod Software
On my daily tasks, it helps me to track every order and provide us with detailed information, logging times, [and] user's interactions. Not only [being] able to track but to build and receive orders thru its transmission system is good because it is integrated with a huge amount of companies world wide, reducing the effort and costs in contracting several apps to do just one thing.

McLeod Software
  • Dispatching management- with all its features we can be sure that McLeod will cover all the possible needs when dispatching a load.
  • Billing and documentation- its platform also provides several ways to gather all our documentation and keep them recorded.
  • GPS tracking- its implementation on GPS is beyond of our expectations. It works perfectly with the most known GPS apps such Macropoint, Keeptruckin, LoadTrack and more.

  • Feedback system- everyone wants to be listened to. We would appreciate a system to leave a feedback about its product and its new functionalities.
  • Fresh look- it is not ugly but McLeod is strong [and] powerful and I think a newer and fresh look will be nice.

Alternatives Considered
Geotab
I think ultimately the product itself is good, however, the other competitors in the space have much better UIs and they almost all seem more intuitive. The reporting is easier to create and not just based in Excel and they feel more developed. I think that if Geotab were to focus on their UI and UX and really develop it more, there would be a significant bump in customer satisfaction for Geotab and they would be a huge force in the enterprise space.

McLeod Software
McLeod has several implementations and is always looking for new ways to get up-to-date. Also, it is stable which is a nice thing when you are a big company handling thousands and thousands of loads every day. We are not only building loads but selling, tracking, dispatching, billing them, and all is being done in the same app.

Return on Investment
Geotab
  • Tracking has allowed us to recover assets from exited employees saving us about $500k.
  • While we could have had a dent in our fuel costs from idling or speeding some of the mechanisms used in the system haven't allowed that to come to fruition.

  • Looks a bit old- we are in a new age of apps with fresh looks and responsive designs, however, this does not impact our business but we think that using a new face will help with the training curve.
  • It might delay the operation a bit because we need to access different menu items to get to one specific point.
  • A positive thing would be that with all the amount of features it has. McLeod is always trying keep the platform stable, and we know it is not easy to maintain a software like that.
