Handshake is great if this is the expected website for your organization to use. It can be difficult to share out specific positions, but an administrator has helped me create links in the past in order to do so. However, if you don't already have traffic to the site I could see where that would be a challenge. It works well for multiple team members to organize positions and helps to make it smooth and easy on the back end. Overall it's a very easy-to-use site.

PeopleGrove
Peoplegrove works incredibly well for our students in the College of Liberal Arts and some Caspersen Graduate School programs (Master in Finance, Data Analytics). It does not function as well for our Theological School students.

  • Innovation. PeopleGrove regularly works on the platform to provide the best possible experience, tools, and opportunities for the end user and to make administration of the platform as seamless as possible for the administrators of the platform within Drew.
  • Responsiveness. When a support ticket is submitted, PG generally responds within less than a day. That said, support tickets are rarely necessary because PG has so much online guidance available for administrators.
  • Customer Service. PG has an amazing support team for each customer. We have been very happy with the support we receive from our contacts within PeopleGrove.

Cons
Handshake
  • Handshake might be hard to use for students who have never used the service before.
  • Handshake might be hard to use for education providers who are not the most tech-savvy.
  • Handshake for work-study positions separate from paid jobs is something that may need to be addressed differently.

  • There is a feature within groups where an admin of a group can add a resource, but cannot pin the resource. Only the hub admin can go in to pin the resource. It would be preferable to allow group admins to perform that function.

Handshake
Handshake provides a job-seeking function, while our mentor's app from PeopleGrove is more of a networking experience. It would be nice if the two functions could be in one application as it is nice to see who is open to networking at specific companies and in certain fields that also go to/graduate from your school.

We actually evaluated several companies when selecting the platform in 2017 but most of the other businesses no longer exist. We selected PeopleGrove over Graduway because at the time Graduway appeared cluttered while PeopleGrove was then and has remained "clean."

  • Approzimately 1/3 of our students across the CLA and Graduate School are on the platform to use it to explore the alumni network.
  • The platform has features that ease staff burden; gone are the days of manual matching of students and alums. Students can access alums directly -- and when a program is implemented, matching can be done automatically after just noting a few parameters. And reminderr to meet are automatic!
