HttpMaster

If you're looking for a tool for building and running integration tests for API apps or other website/web services, HttpMaster is the way to go. A nice feature it offers is a free version, so you can see if it'll suit your needs before paying for it. An instance where it may not be the best option is if you're needing to build and run security tests, or requirements-based testing.

SoapUI Open Source

It's well suited for anyone dealing with SOAP-based web services, especially on the beginner level where they are getting familiar with SOAP protocol and its related items like WSDL. It's also good for people with experience in the software testing field who want to test a flow based on different web services, or for developers who work on SOAP-based web services and want to smoke test their implementation.

Alternatives Considered

HttpMaster

Other honorable mentions are Paw, Insomnia Rest Client, and HTTPie. The reason we selected HttpMaster was primarily due to its ease-of-use. It's a very easy tool to set up, it has a nice UI, it offers a free version for trial purposes, and, similar to other tools, it can do all the testing we need for our applications.
