Impero Remote Manager (discontinued) vs. ShowMyPC

Where we use the Impero Remote Manager is in a school setting and it works really well for us. We have our teachers use it every day to make sure their students are always on track. It works really well for students that we know are likely to get off track. We can see their screen and know exactly when they get off track and can get them back on track quickly.

If you need unattended remote access, you will need one of the paid plans, so for a quick always on remote support option, [ShowMyPC] may not be the best suited. If security is an issue and your client's compliance rules won't allow always on remote access, then ShowMyPC is probably the best on-[the]-fly remote access on the market. On demand access is always free and can be done via browser or via a very small client download.

• It crashes frequently, so that could be fixed.
• The ability to take over a student's screen could be a little easier as well.

• Free level should have automatic reconnect on reboot
• Being a remote access only software pricing plans could be better

The support for Impero Remote Manager is actually really good and I have been pleased every time I have had to work with them. Any time I've had an issue with the software, I've been able to call support and have the issue resolved very quickly and things start working again.

In overall features and what LanSchool can do, we actually like that product better than Impero. The reason why we went with Impero was because of the price. It has similar features but ultimately was a lot cheaper, so we chose Impero. We are a small charter school, so our budget is a lot smaller than in other school districts.

ShowMyPC lags behind its competition when it comes to usability and smoothness in operations, its UI on the web is complicated and seems out of place. The high point of this product is its customer service provided through chat support for any issues which is instant. The product also lacks integration with rd party CSPs for file sharing and it does not have a MAC client which works against it.

• The on-demand access is free - can't get a better ROI than that
• Plans are relatively inexpensive - as long as you are not managing large amounts of devices
• Having a go to remote access solution that enables clients to control access is priceless
