LeadLoft vs. PitchBook

Less suited for run-of-the-mill information on clients(LinkedIn is great for that), however, it is great for tracking company information. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The breadth of information given to me is extremely helpful. Sometimes it can be a pain point to acknowledge that when I am researching older companies that have been merged, it is difficult to find information about them, leading me to look to sources like Wikipedia for even the most basic description.

• Most complete data source when it comes to VC firms. By stitching together other sources, you can find almost everything you can on PitchBook, but PitchBook is much more convenient
• The excel plugin has INCREDIBLE functionality. Anything you can do on the website, you can do in excel, and automate it.
• The support is the best of any product I've ever used. They answer within 60 seconds and their support is incredibly highly skilled, and never tell you no.
• All I do is figure out the scope of the project, then submit a support ticket and they build it out for me in excel formulas which I copy and paste and I'm done.

• Coverage of deals in India seems to be much slower at this point
• Updated company financials. Avoid showing dated 5 year old revenues would be better instead
• An enhanced section focused on Incubators / Accelerators. I'd love a place to track my favorite incubators like YCombinator, Alchemist, etc., and find deals from them

I rely on PitchBook when researching potential investments, particularly in the tech and AI space. It’s an excellent tool for early-stage market analysis and becomes especially valuable when evaluating private or emerging startups. PitchBook provides all the essential company details—financials, funding history, valuations—which are critical for my work as an investment professional. The three points I took out is for the lack of market analysis framework and the lack of P&L data.

The overall support for PitchBook is about average. It is not excellent for two primary reasons. First, PitchBook can run slow from time to time, and I cannot copy and paste from the Chrome extension. I have found neither of those issues to be a function of the computer I am using. However, the PitchBook support team has proved helpful on several occasions.

Pitchbook has the most exhaustive coverage of private market data, and that makes it uniquely differentiated against any other data sources mentioned above. As for public data, I dont think it is any unique compared to AlphaSense or CapIQ

• Would have to do my own web scrape or pay another party to execute that request which would be thousands of dollars and not as extensive as PB's offering.
• If building an M&A target landscape, PB is an excellent resource in understanding who industry participants are and who may or may not be interested in selling.
• Saved 30-60 minutes countless times from the brevity of information provided on a single company. Ability to understand historical cap table and latest available financials makes a dramatic difference.
