LinkedIn Publishing Platform vs. LiveJournal vs. Pen.io

The platform is a great tool for someone trying to find a job. I have personally used the platform to help me get my current position and will use it again once I am back in the job market. There are some people out there who claim the platform is useless. In my opinion, if you see the LinkedIn platform as useless then you don't really understand how helpful it can be in the digital age of 2017.

I feel it's better for personal blogging than for business.

• I like how it lets you publish long form content.
• I love how it lets me copy and paste words and links from my Wordpress website, and it all comes over without me having to reinsert the links.

• The friends list feature aggregates content posted by the users and communities you follow, so you don't have to visit each individual journal.
• The privacy settings are easy to use and understand. Posts can be set as public, friends-only, private, or you can create a custom privacy filter that enables access only by certain users you have approved.
• LiveJournal offers a wide variety of journal styles and customization options, with the most options available to paid subscribers.
• Communities enable users to make online friends and connections who share similar interests. Users may comment on posts and initiate conversations with original authors and other commenters.

• Ability to post on a mirror account
• Notifications on a campaign could be to a phone instead of email
• More robust data analytics

• LiveJournal is a bit clunky. Posting is easy, but formatting a post can be a bit difficult, especially if the user doesn't have much HTML expertise.
• The search function is practically unusable. When searching for a community to join or check out, it is difficult to wade through the list of results. Often times, the results that come back are not related to the topic a user is searching for.

As long as I have friends using it, I will use it. But I can't predict how long that will be the case.

You can use your own profile and it is intuitive, easy to manage with good headings and tools.

The problem with Facebook for Business is that it is on Facebook. Facebook is a great way for a company to brand themselves. However a companies content is surround by other content that is often not professional. For example, if someone follows my company on Facebook and scrolls down their timeline and sees my post, it is intertwined in their feed with their Facebook friends. This could lead to your content being mixed in with others. With Linkedin, it is solely supposed to be used for professionals. People are not supposed to (even though some do) post things that may be deemed offensive. That is not the case with Facebook.

LiveJournal does not hold a candle to any of these alternatives in my opinion. The above options allow for more flexibility with their free suites, and provide more professional results with less work. We actually do not use the LiveJournal much anymore because these other alternatives work far better. We used it only as an additive to what the other products bring us

• I think it raises the awareness of my SuperStar Careers brand. When I talk to people offline, they often tell me they read my articles and can give specific examples.
• I've had a few prospects reach out to me. In the past 2 years, I'd guess I've had up to 10 people reach out to me for a assistance.
