Marqeta vs. Shoeboxed

Great platform for FinTechs that want to build a global business in one place. Lots of control available to run a card program. If you want to do less work (just get cards for your customers with less customization and not worry about details) there are better options.

I'm not sure how Shoeboxed can be used in a large organization, but for our small business, it is perfect. I'm the only one who deals with our finances and works with our accountant and for that Shoeboxed is simply my lifesaver and worth so much more for not just all the time it saves me but all the worries and headaches too.

• Hassle free ways to submit (mobile, snail mail, etc.) with virtually no workload for us
• Digitalizing business cards to facilitate contact management
• Categorizing of receipts to make them searchable

• I had some issues with the mobile app in the past - where it crashes or gets stuck uploading. I think they fixed most of that, however, I transitioned to simply mailing my documents off to them.

The support team has been excellent and very responsive. Whenever we had issues and reached out, we were able to resolve most problems within 24 hours. I think it really helps that they are still a new-ish startup and are very hands-on with their business and with support.

We evaluated a couple back in 2018 (GPS and Galileo), but I'm not sure that is relevant anymore.

We felt we got more customized support through Shoeboxed and pricing was competitive.

• Our entire card payments business runs on Marqeta and Marqeta's cost is a fraction of the revenue provided.
• Costs very reasonable at scale.

• It saves me, I would say, at least 2-3 hours each week
• We probably generate 'better' tax returns - more deductions and save on our accountant in the process, since they have everything perfectly prepped
