MockFlow vs. Visily

MockFlow is a great tool for low-fidelity wireframing for quick validation & contextualization of UX & UI hypotheses. It is not a substitute for full-fledged designing tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.

When building a new product or even a new startup - this tool is priceless, in demonstrating a product's potential without really building it and investing expensive resources before you have users' validation. It's less usable for any backend planning, or when the system behind is too complicated and any user interaction changes the dataset behind the scenes

• Ease of use. The UX is great.
• A decent number of pre-built UI elements such as browser frames, dropdowns, buttons, etc.
• Good prototyping ability. We can create decent prototypes using links.
• Collaborating capability for multiple members in a team.
• Ease of exporting the wires in different formats.

• Prototype feature: enables to move from one screen to another as if the buttons are real
• Premade elements: makes it easy to build the mockup and give it a professional look and feel
• Easy to edit and change as we go

• Grouping the similar elements together to further enhance the UX.
• Detailing the wires is still clumsy.
• Monochromatic UI can be improved a bit.
• Icon availability is limited.
• More collaboration features.
• Grouping of elements in the wires is cumbersome.

• When navigating on the big board, it's hard to track the different screens when there are a few dozen of them
• Prototype mode: there should be an easier way to track the screen that needs to be connected from a specific element
• I'd like to use a proofreading extension on top of Visiliy, such as Grammarly, so I won't have to look for those typos

Figma is a high-fidelity designing tool and provides too many features which would be overkill if we are looking for basic prototyping. Also, if you are not a designer and just want to create basic wires or prototypes as a Business Analyst or Product Manager, MockFlow would suffice your needs. But if you are focusing on pixel-perfect designs then I would suggest going for Figma. The ease of usability with MockFlow is very convenient as there would be a steep learning curve for Figma. Balsamiq is very similar to MockFlow but the wires created in it look a bit sketchy & clumsy.

The possibility to animate to mockup is very valuable and needed at the product's early stage and validation stage

• Saved us hours of developing the wrong product, since we could enhance validation by demoing a pre-built product by using Visily
• Helped us communicate ideas between Product and Developer roles within our team
• Cost us some extra time in design, because we didn't import the design from Visily to Miro, which created an overlap
