Oracle Application Testing Suite (legacy) vs. Progress Test Studio

It is extremely well suited for database upgrade testing as well as major upgrades of the E-business suite applications. It is less suited for performing this for minor patching efforts.

It is very good for testers who have little coding experience but are willing to learn. It is very good for regression testing and really helps us identify issues that could have been a detriment to our end users. It is also great to keep track of the performance of pages across time.

• Easy to configure.
• Plugins can be integrated easily with visual studio.
• Takes less time to run all the test scenarios, [and] also generates graphics report for all the tests.
• Keeps bugs [out of] the production.

• Learning Oracles testing language "OpenScript" is a challenge, and for less technical people could be a problem
• Sometimes the applications automatic updates cause more problems than they solve
• The cost of the suite is higher than some competing applications

• Client start-up time is a bit slow. Application is a bit sluggish, when there is a lot of tests open.
• Automated scheduling environment is a bit challenging to maintain.

Oracle Application Testing Suite is much more useful and we work more than ZAPTEST because it is a life cycle tool that allows us to define and manage your application test process, validate the functionality of the application and ensure that your applications work under load. Implement web applications and web services in less time while maximizing the efficiency of the tests.

Test Studios had a smaller foot print and allowed us to ease into deploying it in the company. The online help was a great benefit to getting started and the evaluation period allowed us to fully run though the product before purchasing it. Cost difference between the products was a big decision factor as well for the type of deployment we were looking for.

• Some of our applications had struggled with performing well under high load times and was adversely affecting the usage of our client services. Using Oracle Application Testing Suite we were able to diagnose some of the architectural flaws and helped make our apps more performant.

• Excellent results, workloads for continuous regresssion testing has been decreased by more than 50 percent.
• Time window needed for regression tests has decreased more than 50 percent.
