RETAILvantage is a retail management system developed by PROFITsystems, the company acquired by Accellos in 2013 and in turn acquired by HighJump after the mid-2014 merger of Accellos and HighJump software.
Many of our competitors were franchised base or a "factory store" meaning they HAD to use a specific software. This could be nice, but also very intrusive, in that they saw everything you were doing and could dictate what/when/how you ordered merchandise. So this is good for the independent retailer who does not need or have access to something created at a large corporate level.
Definitely works well for any furniture company that wants one program that will help almost every aspect of your company run more smoothly. There is a learning curve to learn all of the functions and reports to take full advantage of all of the things RETAILvantage can do, but you will start seeing your business run more smoothly right away. The other nice things about RETAILvantage is that they have recently been partnering with other technologies to help the entire business, i.e. a truck scheduling technology, a review technology, a website company, etc
Keeping track of inventory- making POs, receiving, and tracking any movement of the inventory.
Keeping track of all customer's purchases- it keeps all sales for 8-10 years in the history.
Keeping all of our customer's information organized, you can print out reports by purchases within a date range and can even do it by categories or vendors they purchased.
Like any complex program there were bells and whistles that were bundled and only available if you paid for a better package.
Tech Support was paid for on an annual plan and even though we rarely needed it, the few occasions I did have to call (never during regular working hours of course) I wan't a "gold" member and therefore had to pay or wait or both
It is not an accounting program, it does simple accounting reports and actions but it doesn't do some things in detail so we have to manually do a few entries.
RETAILvantage is constantly updating and making changes to improve based on customer input.
It knew a lot more about the retail process than I did. For instance, I knew I should look at sell through reports, but did not know how to run them or read them. Their tutorials were very helpful
Even though I complained about the tech support, their user base forums were great for knowledge and trouble shooting and seemed to be well proctored by the comapny as well.
