The SAP Transportation Management application integrates fleet and logistics management throughout the user's network, to help reduce transportation complexity. The solution offers on-premise and cloud deployment, transportation and demand planning, interactive freight tendering, and a collaboration portal.
Complexity is less when compared with OMP, because which it is easier to use and leverage data, with simple codes you easily load the functionality, in OMP to need to know the interface to use it as all function are available on tab only which you need to select for execution
It allows to integrate an e2e flow from business process to finance and people management, which in logistic business are the resources for logistic execution. Analytics are obviously allows us to analyze the metrics and make data driven decisions.
End to end solution is not joined up. Inconsistent guidance on where to implement means as a business I have to chose which scenarios I can manage as standard and which need to be a complex custom development. No end to end fix.
It helps to create the transportation carrier's requisites with all detailed required to create the PO for the same
Based on the choice of transportation required like for Transportation of goods from warehouse I want to use vehicle it suggests me out of list which to select based on load size the ideal match
Lane creation, helps me to set up the proper lane for transportation and also according to network mapping for convenience
Planning and execution area for carriers is not covered fully. It has scenarious covered, but its mainly manual and not suited for high volumes and loads
Intermodal transportation management - absent or inefficient
Trailer swap functionality is like 10 steps process, which is highly manually consuming and is not efficient for company operating >5000 trucks and trailers
As any SAP products is not very much user oriented, but its a transactional system. But for large volume operations, it should be more user friendly and easier and more readable interface. SAP in general needs to improve in that area. What is good, you can have a full e2e process overview and traceability of the order - which is one of the reasons we chose to use the product.

Enables movement of code changes through the landscape seamlessly
We have a busy shop and it doesn't matter if a project with 1000+ changes or 100 changes, the system handles it very well. The business is happy that we can move all these changes at one go
One feature would be to identify if the changes are to some core objects in the system then take an automatic backup or at least give that option.
