Visily vs. Whimsical

When building a new product or even a new startup - this tool is priceless, in demonstrating a product's potential without really building it and investing expensive resources before you have users' validation. It's less usable for any backend planning, or when the system behind is too complicated and any user interaction changes the dataset behind the scenes

This is my go-to mind mapping tool, and I use this both for business-related work and personal though organization and brainstorming. Can't think of any scenario where it is less appropriate, except for maybe, a larger enterprise where data confidentiality may be an issue.

• Prototype feature: enables to move from one screen to another as if the buttons are real
• Premade elements: makes it easy to build the mockup and give it a professional look and feel
• Easy to edit and change as we go

• Can organize all your boards pretty much however you want

• When navigating on the big board, it's hard to track the different screens when there are a few dozen of them
• Prototype mode: there should be an easier way to track the screen that needs to be connected from a specific element
• I'd like to use a proofreading extension on top of Visiliy, such as Grammarly, so I won't have to look for those typos

• It can be a little frustrating trying to line things up exactly right but that's probably more user error than anything

Whimsical is overall very easy to learn and remember. One issue with the usability occurs when you attempt to move connected boxes around the workspace. Frequently connections break or do not add easily, causing further disconnects. You can manually fix these issues, but it's a oprobem that seems would have an easy fix

I reached out to support, as I was interested in possibly investing in the organization, and they quickly and happily informed me they are a bootstrap organization and do not take on investors at this time. The swift response and information readily available for my consumption was extremely helpful and shows how solid the team behind it is.

The possibility to animate to mockup is very valuable and needed at the product's early stage and validation stage

Whimsical is so much easier and has a better interface, so I think it's more suited to our workflow if compared to other tools like Google Charts. I really love this tool and I'm looking to learn and use it even more, as it helps us optimize our time, planning, and delivering more efficiently.

• Saved us hours of developing the wrong product, since we could enhance validation by demoing a pre-built product by using Visily
• Helped us communicate ideas between Product and Developer roles within our team
• Cost us some extra time in design, because we didn't import the design from Visily to Miro, which created an overlap
