Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Adlumin as an automated log review, monitoring, and protection system that scans for anomolies in our technology stack that could potentially be a problem. It then emails us and/or takes action depending on the settings we've configured and/or the defaults configured by the company.

The most obvious business use case is account compromise alerting and protection, but depending on your specific technology stack, it can also protect against phishing attacks, ransomware, and a number of other malicious scenarios.

Pros

Malicious actor detection through log analysis
Randomware protection through agent and canary files
Single pane of glass monitoring and visibility
Automated responses to malicious actions

Cons

Reducing extra noise - specifically, having the ability to mark certain accounts as "safe" so that we're not alerted whenever an admin installs an app
Clearer setup instructions - the initial setup call was good, but having knowledge base articles / self-help processes are always good

Likelihood to Recommend

If you don't already have a system in place for anomoly detection, log monitoring, and alerting, you're doing your company a disservice. Whether Adlumin is the best choice for you depends on your budget and technology stack, but overall, Adlumin has been one of the best security purchases made by our company in the last few years, and has paid for itself by automatically preventing and protecting against specific attacks that were non-attacks due to Adlumin stopping them before they could start.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We leverage Adlumin's SOC capabilities to protect our end users at all times of day. Their 24/7 support has been a great resource to protect our teams. We also enjoy their log aggregation capabilities for onboarding many of our tools and analyzing their data. Adlumin then creates alerts and notifies our teams whenever a problem arises.

Pros

Cons

Log Alerting Creation.
Duplicate alerts when multiple sources alert the same issue.
Some alerts can be confusing to read and understand.

As an MSP, we provide Adlumin to our customers to provide an extra layer of security to the tools we already provide. We use their 24/7 SOC team to keep our customers protected at all times of day (and night), their automated playbooks speed up getting identities secure again, and their log aggregation helps our teams stay focused on what really matters.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Adlumin for SOC team logging/monitoring for suspicious activity. We specifically like the ability to capture and alert on login attempts, since our EDR management is already handled by me. We use it for incident response, security posture reporting, and centralizing as many logs as possible.

Pros

Lots of detail in alerts and reporting.
Immediate action taken if determined to be necessary.
Honeypot deployment option.

Cons

After an alert has been "Cleared" by internal IT, there should be no further action taken by the SOC team or the AI agent.
When there is an active internal incident or problem with Adlumin, there should be a notice in the incident or on the platform's active issues board about issues that may affect Adlumin agents. This would save people who have to respond a lot of time.
Have not been able to get one forwarder to function properly, despite documentation from a technician and the platform documentation. This is frustrating when a Windows collector option is available but doesn't work at all.
I have noticed some SentinelOne detections do not warrant responses or actions from the Adlumin team. These are usually repeated flags that do not require action, but some do, and some do not. I can't figure out what we reference specifically to determine a response from SOC or AI.

Likelihood to Recommend

Good scenarios: Clients who have little to no IT team and need a centralized logging/SOC monitoring solution to monitor for suspicious activity. For people who need protection but do not have access to technology professionals. Less appropriate: If there are staff with SOC skills and responsibilities, it would not be deemed as necessary, especially given all the noise it makes.

We have Adlumin installed on all Endpoints and integrated with S1 and M365. It is part of our standard required toolset stack. We are using it to help tighten security across our clients' infrastructure.

Pros

Impossible Travel Identification and Isolation.
Device isolation in Standalone mode (not looking at S1).
Alerting on new app registrations, GA permissions, email rule creation in M365.

Cons

Integration with S1 and hasty isolations.
More human interaction from SOC, i.e., calls to our team before isolation, and less back and forth on SOC tickets.
Integration with Connectwise PSA for better ticketing.

Likelihood to Recommend

Based on our experience, Adlumin is well-suited for high‑confidence, true‑positive security events that require rapid detection and response. When the signal is clear, especially around confirmed malicious behavior, the platform works well and adds real value through automation and SOC engagement. Adlumin has been less effective with heavy use of legitimate administrative tools such as RMM, vulnerability scanners, and scripted activity. In these scenarios, we have seen repeated false positives, hasty server isolations, and actions taken without adequate human validation, leading to operational disruption and increased alert fatigue.

I use Adlumin, an N-able company mainly for endpoint security, detecting new threats, and threat intelligence/research. I login, and then can quickly see which machines need remediations to them. I also use the feature which can automatically isolate a machine that gets infected so that my team can fix the problem and then get it back on the network. Adlumin, an N-able company is also where I go to see current events in the cyber world and to keep up to date on the latest threats.

Pros

The Adlumin dashboard is not too simple or too complicated
Alerts for infected machines are quick
The automation abilities are great

Cons

It takes a while for the screen to update after I make a remediation, so sometimes I can't tell if it was successful or not until days later

It's great for medium-sized companies. Some things aren't as friendly when you have 100s of machines, but other than that it's very useful.

We use Adlumin, an N-able company, through our MSP and have over 100 devices that are enrolled in the application. We are very happy with the speed and quality of the software and support, and we could not recommend it enough! The platform effectively detects and stops malicious ransomware files instantly. Its ability to identify malicious activity on the firewall and across local networks is a huge benefit, and the fast alerting allows us to evaluate and respond to issues in a timely manner.

Catching malicious ransomware from exes that customers find online is a huge help, it's extremely important and common. It is good to get those processes terminated as soon as possible when they persistent on trying to find software using off brand websites. Another common thing is catching the failed login attempts where an account attempted to login over 100 times using unique passwords.

It allows us to focus on other problems while they scan clients' computers. It is a great tool for the average user. It absolutely sucks for administrators who do anything other than check Outlook. It blocks accounts, forces logouts, and kills system resources. It's the big brother no one wants, but we can charge the customers like crazy for it.

Pros

Quick Action.
Simple to deploy.
Useable interface.

Cons

Tone it down, Microsoft Office installer is not a virus on every single computer.
Some people use PowerShell to get their job done. Stop killing their account because they manually initiated a restore point.

We use Adlumin, along with our EDR solution, with overlapping SOC coverage to ensure my clients are safe from ransomware and any kind of M365 token hijacking. We also use Adlumin for a SIEM solution that monitors all of our servers, firewalls, and switches.

We are an MSSP that uses Adlumin, an N-able company, to notify and act on unusual and malicious actions that take place on our endpoints. It takes action on impossible travel alerts, Microsoft 365 apps being added, and all integrations that we use via API. The SOAR actions are automated, so anything that is considered a high risk is automatically resolved instead of waiting on a real person to review the issue.

Adlumin, an N-able company, is excellent for those larger clients where things are happening all the time and sometimes difficult to review in a timely manner. With the SOAR actions, the automations use the best option available to immediately remedy the situation until it can be reviewed further by someone. Email rules being created, AV alerts for ransomware and disconnecting devices from the network have both been game changes for us when protecting our clients in real-time.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Accessium uses Adlumin not only for our own organization but those that we support as well. We are challenged with working with a diverse set of medical devices, specifically modalities such as MRI’s, CT’s, X-Ray, Ultrasound machines and more. These are all managed in at least part by their manufacturers but exist in mixed network environments which are managed by both our organization and in concert generally with internal client resources. Because of this there are multiple security profiles that we have to deal with and we have found ways to ingest this diverse log and data set to provide meaningful insights within Adlumin. We have been able to create custom rules to alert each manufacturer based on their own unique security profiles. This has enabled us to work in concert with the managed Adlumin SOC, our external vendor partners, the clients themselves and our own response team to stay ahead of suspicious activity in our medical imaging environments.

Adlumin allows for ease of deployment in disparate environments where there are complex and varied levels and ages of equipment. Such as older and in some cases deprecated medical devices that nonetheless need to be connected to the network and therefore secured, monitored, analyzed, and reported on. An area where Adlumin could improve is single pane of glass overview of multiple clients as tenants in an MSP setting.
