Astah SysML

Astah SysML is a desktop modeling tool for SysML v1, developed by Change Vision, Inc. It is designed for systems engineers and teams practicing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) who need a lightweight alternative to enterprise MBSE suites.

Deployment
Astah SysML is an installable desktop application for Windows and macOS. Linux is not supported. It is not a cloud or SaaS product. Models are saved as local files and the tool works offline.

Key capabilities

• SysML v1 modeling, including block definition diagrams, requirement diagrams, and parametric diagrams
• Requirements modeling with traceability between requirements and system design elements
• AI Chat Copilot, for creating and editing diagrams through natural-language prompts
• A built-in MCP server, which lets external AI agents read and work with Astah models
• Model data exchange with Cameo Systems Modeler
  
  

AI features connect to external AI services through the user's own API key, and API usage is billed separately by the AI provider. Supported services in version 11 are OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini. Azure OpenAI is not supported in this edition.

Scope and limitations
Astah SysML supports SysML v1 only and does not include simulation.
For SysML v2, Change Vision offers SysMLv2 Editor, a Visual Studio Code extension included with the Astah SysML license, and SysMLv2 Modeler, currently in early access. For safety analysis notations such as GSN and STAMP/STPA, Change Vision offers Astah System Safety.

Licensing
Astah SysML is available as an annual subscription or an annual floating license, and is included in the Faculty Site License for education. A free trial is available.
