Bitrise Pricing 2022

Mobile continuous integration and development (CI/CD) platforms are essential for many app developers. They provide stability, security, and accessibility across your devices and coding languages. Bitrise has you covered on these fronts. It’s a comprehensive building and deployment platform that you can access anywhere. With a wide range of powerful, easy-to-use tools and features, it really makes developer lives easier.

What is Bitrise?

Bitrise is a premiere DevOps and mobile CI/CD build platform. It offers a stable, cloud-based testing and development environment for developers looking to scale their mobile apps. With ways to improve building, security, and productivity across the board, it helps any developer make their best products.

They offer a remote environment to develop, test, deploy, and host apps. These environments use virtual machines, which are software-based computing environments with their own operating systems. Virtual machines are stable, powerful, and customizable. You can use these to host multiple apps, which is helpful if you need to support a lot of products. This means that you won’t need to worry about hardware requirements for your builds.

To see a quick overview of how you can use Bitrise to improve your CI/CD workflow, watch this video.

Introducing Bitrise — Building better mobile applications, faster

Bitrise’s virtual environment keeps your products online while you work. So, if you find a problem in your current version, you can hop right in and solve it without pulling your product from an app store. Making these changes won’t take resources away from your developers working on other apps. You can seamlessly integrate changes while saving older versions so you have instant access to prior builds.

There are many tools to help improve your build quality and reduce development time. The script testing tools give you real-time updates on how well your project works, so you’ll always know what’s working and what isn’t. External testing tools can live test elements or whole builds outside of the virtual environment. This will give you a realistic view of your build’s live performance. If you ever find yourself stumped, Bitrise’s team of CI/CD experts can also help make your life easier by providing solutions or additional support.

Your build environments are accessible from anywhere and any device, making the platform ideal for remote teams. This gives your developers the power they need at any time while reducing pesky “it worked on my machine” errors. They also include open-source build runners that let you see how builds can work on other operating systems, so you can develop for just about any platform.

Bitrise helps with productivity too. One of their main offerings is Steps, which is their out-of-the-box customizable integrations, build templates, and workflows. Steps can be reused across all of your builds to help cut down development time. Steps can become task or process automations that free up your team’s time. They are especially useful for problem-solving. You can quickly create Steps to fix an issue in one build, then deploy them to other builds.

There are also a wide range of insight tools to help with productivity. Their analytics and reporting tools give detailed product and team performance snapshots. You can track uptime, log changes, and more. The reports can be shared instantly with team members through their environment dashboards or externally across third-party apps like Slack. This will help you accurately update projects and move team members to other tasks if needed.

The Bitrise team made this helpful video to show how helpful their build insights and reporting features can be.

Introduction ⎸ Build Insights

Bitrise has ways for your to expand your visibility to potential customers. It includes multiple native deployment options to help launch your products to the widest audience possible. This includes Windows, Android, macOS, and more. It can support custom APIs that deploy to other platforms and systems as well.

The impressive security features will protect you, your brand, and your product. You can use enforced 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) for user logins, which is always helpful in protecting your assets when login credentials are stolen. Single sign-on (SSO) and audit log connectors help meet regulation or compliance needs. They offer support for infrastructure management to manage your connected devices and network health. This will make sure you don’t leave any gaps in your security.

Some of the most impressive security features are customizable so you can protect what you feel is most important. For example, you can have code or product secrets auto-redacted from any log or report. Their code signing features help you detect tampering in internal and external builds. Dedicated and customizable firewalls can be used to protect each build in unique ways, allowing you to test different security features.

If you choose Bitrise, you’ll be pleased to learn that they help you get set up. They provide migration support to safely transfer all of your assets and settings. You can also use their native host integrations with Github and Bitbucket so your repositories can connect without hassle.

How Much Does Bitrise Cost?

Bitrise plans can be paid annually or monthly. A plan’s base price is determined by the number of credits per month. Credits are redeemed for time using their build machines. Each credit equals 1 minute for Linux machines, or 30 seconds for macOS and iOS. You can see their plans and how to determine credit needs on their pricing page here.

Bitrise’s Hobby plan is free. This plan is great for students and individual users starting their CI/CD journeys. It comes with 300 credits per month, auto-redaction, and auto-scaling tools. It also has enforceable 2FA and SSO security features so you can protect your builds. A downside to this plan is that it only supports 1 user, 5 concurrent builds, and 120 minutes of device testing. The virtual machines included with this plan are also less powerful than what you’ll find in paid tiers, so your building and hosting potential will be limited.

The Teams plan is designed to help small and mid-sized teams maximize their potential. The plan starts with 500 credits, but can be scaled up to 50,000. It supports up to 30 builds at once, and there is no restriction on the number of covered users. This is the only plan that lets you top off your credits if you run out. so you’ll be able to purchase more build time if you need it.

For larger teams with multiple products, the Velocity plan is a great place to start. It supports up to 80 builds at once and includes up to 1,200,000 credits per month. This plan includes Buffer, which lets you continue working on your builds even if you use all of your monthly credits. This plan also has audit log connectors that can extend the reach of your auto-redaction and code signage security features to third parties

The Enterprise plan is designed from the ground up to meet the needs of each client. This plan offers customized virtual machines built by Bitrise to meet your needs. Since these virtual machines are used only by you, you do not need to worry about credits. You can also host an unlimited number of builds with this plan. This plan also includes direct support from Bitrise, which includes weekly infrastructure maintenance, dedicated Slack channels, access to Bitrise’s CI/CD engineer team, and more.

Bitrise offers guided trials and demos for each of their paid plans. This lets you see how well they work with your products before you fully migrate. You can book one here.

What is an Alternative to Bitrise?

CircleCI is a popular CI/CD tool for building and delivering software. Like Bitrise, it includes dedicated development environments, extensive productivity tools, and powerful security features.

Both products offer similar tools, features, and pricing plan options. Choosing between the two will mostly depend on your team size and your builds’ characteristics.

With CircleCI’s Free plan, you are given 30,000 credits per month, compared to Bitrise’s 300. This makes CircleCI a great choice for students or individual users, since it gives you significantly more time to work on your builds each month.

CircleCI’s paid plans begin with the Performance plan at $15 per month. This plan supports 5 users to start, and additional users can be added for $15 per seat. This is ideal for smaller teams, but larger teams may find Bitrise’s unlimited supported users more economical.

With the Server plan, CircleCI lets you customize maintenance and security cadences. This means that you can have them done every day if you need. This gives you more control over possible downtime or other maintenance errors compared to Bitrise’s weekly cadences. The Server plan also lets you install CircleCI on-premises, while Bitrise only offers private cloud hosting options.

CircleCI’s Orbs are reusable integration and configuration packages that can be used across your build environments. They are similar to Bitrise’s Steps, but they have more compatibility with other products, including other build environments. This makes Orbs helpful if you have a large network of third-party products supporting your builds. Orbs can be used to adjust virtual machine power or performance automatically as well.

CircleCI natively supports Docker, and includes many Orbs to handle Docker output. Bitrise can support Docker, but only with custom APIs. If you use Docker frequently, CircleCI may prevent or reduce issues with migration and integration.
