We use the Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT in our fundraising office. Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is rebranded as Raiser's Edge in the fundraising business. It helps a small school like ours manage relationships with our donors and community.

Pros

It is integrated with our other databases enabling our business office to work easily with our fundraising and academic offices.
Mass email platform to contact all of our constituents.
Provide a starting point for any prospect research that we need to do.

Cons

Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is completely web based now so some functionality can be slow. There is a lot of clicking around.
The data is hosted by Blackbaud so you are at their mercy as far as back ups and the safety of the data.
The product can be expensive for smaller businesses.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Financial Edge NXT as our ERP. Because it is tailored to the nonprofit community it is really geared towards the unique needs of the sector. We use it to manage AP, GL, reporting and it is integrated with Raiser's Edge NXT which allows us to account for fundraising receipts as well. Because it is in the cloud it has helped us greatly in our hybrid work environment and supports the integrations we need to do our work.

My organization uses Financial Edge for all of our accounting needs. We also use Raiser's Edge for our fundraising. We are able to post gift entries directly to Financial Edge from Raiser's Edge. This process saves a lot of time and reduces errors. We don't often have problems, but when we do, Blackbaud support is helpful in finding solutions.

We use Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT on a daily basis, on general ledger and accounts payable. Currently Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT for AR is not available. We integrate with Raisers Edge and we utilize the bank feed feature. Sometimes the bank feed doesn't match up but usually get resolved. The support is sometimes slow. It seems to take time to get support.

As a non-profit, we've used Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT for almost 20 years. It's been a lifesaver on many times with its ability to incorporate new features while also always allowing the user to create new and useful reports for their organization. I would recommend this software to any non-profit who has multiple funding sources and needs a way to keep track of each penny.
