My Bluebeam Review

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bluebeam allows me to perform construction takeoffs digitally, mark up plans, modify pdf documents just to name a few of its benefits. Bluebeam basically combines Adobe like software with On Center’s On Screen takeoff software into one platform. Having access to both of these type programs combined into one, saves me time and makes me more productive.

Pros

  • Digital Takeoffs
  • PDF creation
  • Document management

Cons

  • Take off functionality
  • More how-to help videos
  • Easier program navigation

Likelihood to Recommend

Bluebeam is a powerful tool/software program within the Construction industry. With the ability to scale and perform takeoffs of your blueprints that are in a pdf form is incredible. Combing the takeoff capabilities with being able to create and modify pdf documents is awesome. With these capabilities plus more, Bluebeam is a software program that I use daily.

Pros

  • it loads fast

Likelihood to Recommend

Bluebeam is suited for people who are collaborating because they can make changes, markups and notes to pdf files

Master All Things PDF

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bluebeam does it all! It is always open on my laptop to modify and interact with PDF files. I use it to mark-up drawings, sign documents, do takeoffs, take measurements, and export files into Excel. It is one of the most flexible and useful tools I have at my disposal.

Pros

  • Modify PDF
  • Quantity Takeoffs

Cons

  • Takeoff feature can be cumbersome
  • Snapshots should be easily saved as a JPEG

Likelihood to Recommend

Bluebeam caters to the Construction Industry and many of the features are geared towards them. Although anyone could find usefulness in the program, it is best suited for Architects, Engineers, and Contractors. Other PDF programs do not have the same features and I found Adobe to be clunky.

Bluebeam won’t disappoint

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a Home Consultant with a custom home-building company, Bluebeam Revu helps me with everything from home layout modifications and measurements, to site plans, to cost estimation and more.

Pros

  • Copy, Paste, and Color - The ability to duplicate a second of my Layout and recolor it for home modifications
  • Square footage Tools - The fill in tool that “bleeds” into the shapes of the rooms is super helpful.
  • Customized Toolbox - After about three weeks of regular work with the program, I had a saved digital toolbox filled with so many helpful items for future access

Cons

  • User adaption will probably always been the hardest thing. Keep finding ways to make the tools function simple for new comers.
  • Mac Vs PC - I had some issues with a few controls going from my PC work computer to my Mac at home. Nothing major.
  • If I had to pick another possibly issue… maybe simplify the Layers and Print screens? The biggest learning curve for me was trying to print PDFs without getting Layouts mixed up or losing quality.

Likelihood to Recommend

I recommend Bluebeam to anyone in the construction or design industry and I don’t just mean architects. Even a salesperson, online marketer, or low level manager could use this to help them communicate visually with their customers, general public, or their internal team.

Senior Proposal Manager

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have used Bluebeam for several years in while working in the proposal management and development industry. It is a very comprehensive software to create and develop PDF files. There are tons of editing options that make this software way better than Adobe Acrobat, in my opinion. Especially, if you are an engineer, this software is best in editing and developing drawings as well.

It’s a very user-friendly software.

Pros

  • Creating PDF files
  • Editing PDFs
  • Editing engineering drawings
  • Collaboration software
  • Best for AEC industries

Cons

  • It lags and crashes especially when handing very large files
  • High CPU and memory usage
  • The interface can be overwhelming for new users due to its wide array of features
  • Speed of opening and saving large files is sometimes less
  • Expensive pricing model

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited within architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries, especially construction project management, collaboration on large scale projects, bids and tenders process, quality control and inspection, design review and coordination etc.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have used Bluebeam to convert my CAD drawings to PDF and to share them with engineers, builders, suppliers, and clients.

Pros

  • It used to convert my drawings to PDF easily
  • Mark-ups and collaboration were efficient
  • Sharing drawings was easier than with Adobe.

Cons

  • Customer service
  • Technical support
  • Updating and upgrading software

Likelihood to Recommend

My subscription was renewed and, in my opinion, the renewal software was less useful than the original. I paid additional money and agreed to a subscription system I do not feel comfortable with, and have now lost 4 days worth of productivity and progress trying to get the matter resolved.

Simple and easy to use Project Management Software

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bluebeam Revu in our organization to keep our Project Managers, Installation team as well as our end-user clients all on the same page. This allows us to make changes and have a central platform for communication between all parties. We are able to share these documents and project plans without others needing licensing.

Pros

  • Project Review In depth
  • Document and Data sharing
  • Available on Web, iOS onsite and off site.

Cons

  • Subscription base creates issues for remote users
  • Not available on Mac
  • Takes too long to print or open files

Likelihood to Recommend

We run multiple projects at the same time. Often times a single project manager may be responsible for 5-7 of these large projects at any given time. Bluebeam allows us to manage our jobs more productively without needing to hire more Project Managers. This saves our overhead and allows us to be more competitive on price.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bluebeam Revu is one of the best PDF markup softwares. It allows for quick edits with a wide range of tools to achieve your desired markup and collaborative editing where multiple people can work together at the same time on the same document. It manages large document sets, such as construction drawings, exceptionally.

Pros

  • PDF markup
  • Multiple users of the same file
  • Cloud document management

Cons

  • More advanced drawing tools - the pencil is rather rudimentary
  • Easier to pick up for first time users

Likelihood to Recommend

Bluebeam is great when a project team needs to review documents and mark them up for everyone to see everyone's edits. It allows multiple people to edit the file at the same time and allows users to designate comments as accepted/rejected/completed/canceled.

All the bang for the buck

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Most of our whole organization uses Bluebeam Revu. Our main use is to review and edit documents such as plans for construction. It offers us much more flexibility and clarity versus other programs that we have used int the past. Additionally, its ease of sharing between users is definitely a plus because we can all be looking at the same documents in a much more timely manner.

Pros

  • Ease of use.
  • Speed. It allows the user to access and edit documents much faster.

Cons

  • At first it might be intimidating if you have never used it.
  • Sometimes too many options.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well Suited:

1. For everything we do in our takeoff engineering department.

2. Ease of access to view and edit plans and documents.

3. Ease of sharing between our office and field staff.

4. Inviting to sessions - meaning that we can all teleconference and view the same exact document in real time with each other.

I cannot think of a scenario where it would not be useful in my situation.

Great for scaled markups

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bluebeam Revu to add and track comments and markups on architectural drawing sets and other documents. We use Bluebeam Studio / Sessions to review documents with our consultants and clients. We also use Bluebeam drawing tools to create basic diagrams and other illustrations. We don't typically use more advanced features like conditional formatting, or exporting markups.

Pros

  • Great fast PDF viewer with better editing tools than Adobe Acrobat.
  • Useful feature set for architects, such as setting drawing scale, distance and area measurement tools.

Cons

  • I wish the drawing tools had 'snapping' options.
  • There should be more control over dimming backgrounds and flattening/unflattening markups so you can be sure your recipient is seeing the same thing.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bluebeam Revu is great for quickly viewing PDFs. Its more advanced features such as collaborative sessions make it our go-to PDF viewer and editor, over Adobe Acrobat. The scale drawing and measurement tools make it a great program for reviewing and commenting on architectural drawings. It is less useful for documents that are primarily text, as the text editing features are somewhat lacking.
