We use Bluecore primarily as an Email Service Provider (ESP). This means we can build and send email campaigns, but we can also gather data and build based on our audiences and their behavior through these emails, our site and social media. We can also track our sent campaigns in order to look back on KPIs such as open rate, click-through-rate and revenue to determine future decisions.
Pros
Audience Insights
Key metrics on sent campaigns
User friendly, drag and drop functionality in building email templates
Encouraging support on becoming better and more involved with our customers/subscribers
Cons
Embedded functionality for social media live preview
Heat maps don't always show up
More flexibility in navigation bar, can get uneven in proportion

Bluecore is fantastic for building and sending email campaigns. They're also spectacular at providing insight on where your subscribers actively are vs predictive behavior. This is particularly helpful in sending the right message at the right time to the right person, all with product recommendations. I don't think they would be particularly appropriate for building something in SMS (we've found a lot of success with Attentive) and I don't think Bluecore helps much with social media analytics.
Our ecom department uses Bluecore to send a number of triggered email campaigns based on several different factors, chiefly user behavior (abandoned carts, browse abandons, price drops, back in stock, low stock, etc.) as well as ingesting outside data points. We're able to easily set up recurring campaigns that require limited oversight, which is crucial when you have limited manpower. At the same time, we're also able to create highly targeted mailings on an ad hoc basis to take advantage of quick win opportunities.
Pros
Triggered emails
Audience segmentation
Integration with Facebook and Adwords
Cons
There are a number of exciting looking features in beta that will greatly increase functionality: opportunity finder, experience builder, and audience insights. I'm just anxious to get them.

If you have an e-commerce site with a large number of diverse products and a customer base made up of many different customer personas, then Bluecore is perfect. Our visitors are very unique, and we cannot market to each in with the same broad approach. Bluecore makes it possible to craft messaging that speaks to each as individuals.
