Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At happilo we use BMC AMI data to collect business data coming from different places like online orders, Store, warehouses etc. This software help us in keeping everything together also the report that we create with the help of BMC AMI data are more detailed and quick. Now we are also able to manage our stock properly and reduce wastage

Pros

It also helps in keeping the record of which product is being sold more and has repeat customer
The software helps us in identifying the stock and also make sure that inventory are being properly managed.
Real time and accurate data help us in taking smarter decisions for pricing, promotions and product planning.

Cons

The software has been little expensive as they charge subscription on a monthly basis and it is little heavy to sustain in longrun
The software is also not beginner friendly at all it needs professional and skilled IT Team to get the data collected and create reports
Integration with all the systems has also been time taking for us

According to my experience BMC AMI data has been one of the best report creating software for our business as it's integrates all the business system with a single dashboard and make sure that we are able to understand our products and customers better. It also helps in focusing which part of our business is strong and which need more planning

BMC AMI Data works like a mainframe data management tool that helps in managing our organization's monitor and large date base all together. This software helps us in identifying performance issues quickly and reduce our overall downtime. As we use our application for generating bookings and BMC AMI Data handles all of it's data and transactions quite smoothly.

Pros

The software manages DB2 objects and navugate catlog easily.
The BMC AMI Data helps our team in reducing DBA related work.
The software also helps us in improving sql query performances

Cons

One of the major disadvantage is its licensing cost which is very high
The documentation of this software is also lengthy for beginners and it took around 7 days for us to get it all done.
And there will be a need of experienced IT team for complete setup of this tool.

Likelihood to Recommend

As our system is completely set up of a mainframe system that's why this software is quite smooth and Specially built for these environments. It also provides us consistent high performance but is little costly at the same time. The software is not beginners friendly at all and will need a proper training before installation to use it in a long run.

BMC AMI Data is a sort of not a product but as a mindset for running critical data systems at very large scale. Large companies like us utilise it because small data mistakes = huge business losses. As product manager at Tata Cliq I often deals with sales report delay , sometimes stock mismatches, we flash sales which need quick tracking so there are various works which BMC AMI Data helps in doing in a snap. Now I get fast data access, and can see the automated queries , live status of inventory at time. So for me it's a bit difficult to understand first but when your hands are getting smooth you get a great advantage of managing huge numbers and data.

Opening heavy sheets takes lot of time need good internet connection

BMC AMI Data is helping me to creating an environment of data game with the right predictions we need clean optimized data and automated analysis taking care in mind that consistency should be there not speed. It also ensures the historical data and their trends which are highly accurate to forecast the next sales so that is the environment I am talking about so final descision is my call but its suggestions most of the matches with my thoughts. On the other hand small scale company does not require it as much because there various other software like excel can do their work.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BMC’s Backup and Recovery Solution for IMS for one of our clients. For our larger client, the Ministry of Transportation, we also rely on MAXM Reorg/EP, IMS Pointer Checker Plus, and File-AID for zOS, IMS, and DB2. Across most of our mainframe clients we use BMC AMI Ops for IMS, BMC AMI Ops for zOS, and general mainframe system programming services. I feel that some of our clients do not take full advantage of the full functionality available in these BMC tools.

Pros

IMS backup and recovery resolution improve the efficiency
Supports very precise recovery, which lowers risk and minimizes data loss.
IMS Log analyzer provides information we need

Cons

automated online snapshot backup and recovery
review and improve Disaster Recovery solution
utilize more from tool offers

Likelihood to Recommend

Learn automated or AI benefits from tool to improve the complexed DR procedure for both DB2 and IMS.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We heavily use the BMC AMI Data suite, specially Catalog Manager, Apptune and Sql Explorer. They give great help with performance issues, managing DB2 Objects, navigating the catalog, and doing Change Management in a simple way.

Pros

Whatif Analys of sql, in a simple and fast way
Navigation of Catalog Objects in a suitable way
Seeing how consumption ae done inside Apptune

Cons

In Change Manager, IDAA objects can't be analyzed. This is a big issue if you have Accelerated Tables in your shop.
Not able to find how runa Accelerated tasks in batch, especially long time loading

Likelihood to Recommend

It is very helpfull in a day by day works, like navigating objects managing them, managing data, do Change management. It is not so helpful in Change of accelerated Tables. Lacks the opportunity to do an Analysis oìin som e cases, when Table is accelerated.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I currently work for a company that provides IT services to many, many companies. Unfortunately, none of the clients I support currently use BMC's IMS database administration tools. However, as an IMS DBA, I've utilized BMC's AMI tools many times. Thee products are outstanding: dependable, efficient, well documented, and backed with outstanding support from BMC staff. I've used them for the entire range of IMS DBA function like image copies, reorgs, pointer checks, etc. You name it, and there's a BMC tool to help you do it. Great products!

Pros

Quickly pointer checked IMS databases when I found myself investigating problems.
Outstanding reorg tools with a variety of option as far as how to run them to allow DBAs to quickly and efficiently reorg databases.

Cons

The only thing that I can say about BMC AMI tools that is even remotely negative is their cost. I've been involved at several companies over the years with converting from BMC products to those of competitors and there's never been an issue with the tools themselves, just their costs.

Likelihood to Recommend

BMC AMI Data mainframe products are well suited to mature mainframe environments staffed by experienced IT professionals who know and understand the database environments they're operating in. Those same products are less suited environments with staff whose primary experiences are with distributed platforms where there's less hands on work and a reliance on 'point and click' tools.
