We have recently implemented CCH® SureTax® to automate our sales tax billing and use tax accruals on material purchases. We are a company in the construction industry so sales tax is very complex.

CCH® SureTax® is especially helpful in navigating accurate tax answers in all 50 states. Our company does construction work in every state and it is hard for us to keep up with the ever evolving tax climate. CCH® SureTax® helps with that.

CCH SureTax was implemented with the connection through Netsuite to account for sales taxes. This has not resolved any of our business problems but only created more steps in the process of tracking, processing, and paying sales taxes. We have lost transparency as everything is not kept on the CCH website and is not easily tracked back into Netsuite. When filing, the CCH team handles it, but we have to be available to give access codes to the state tax portals so they can process it. The timing is usually an issue because there is no coordination of when they will be processed and when our time is available to send over the verification codes.

Pros

Sorry I cannot think of anything SureTax does particularly well.

Cons

Easier connection with Netsuite.
Paid for the higher service but are doing more of the hands on processing.
Timing of CCH team processing so there are not multiple emails going around trying to resolve filing issues.
Easier navigation in the CCH SureTax website.

Likelihood to Recommend

If a company is currently doing all the processing, filing, and payments of company sales tax in-house, CCH can help there, but if a system is already in place, CCH does not add any value.

We use CCH SureTax system to manage all things related to sales tax: calculations, exemption certificates, credits and refunds. This includes sales and use tax compliance work and staying on top of requesting and updating customers' certifications. CCH SureTax is a useful system to automate many processes in our daily routine work.

I would recommend CCH SureTax as a sales tax management system however I would also be open to exploring other options and finding more streamlined and efficient ways to manage sales tax issues.

We use CCH® SureTax® to keep track of the taxes on our billing accounts in Rev.io. We are a telecom and as you may know, the taxes can be a bit hairy, so having a product like CCH® SureTax® available to us makes our job much easier. Helps us sleep a little better too! CCH® SureTax® tracks not only the different types of tax, but also the various states the taxes affect and all of their individual rates.

Pros

Sales Taxes for each state, city, metro area, etc
FCC charges in each state
PUC charges for the phones
Listing everything out by month, alphabetically, clearly

Cons

Some areas of the website feel clunky - like the beginning map
I wish I could access this account directly from Rev.io via a link

I would put CCH® SureTax® at the top of the scale for any Telecom business or anyone with a known tax scenario that will be similarly sketchy. This software, while not always user friendly, can do amazing things to help you navigate the tax issues facing us all today. This would not be appropriate for a company just needing help gathering their sales tax information. There are plenty of other, friendlier solutions, possibly what they are already using for their accounting that will do it cleaner, easier and cheaper. You just have to ask an expert in that software.

We use it to file & pay our monthly sales & use tax. The after-sales service was not that great. It is not easy to get answers. The product is unstable; at the beginning of the month, some states were ok, but something was missing, and manual entries were needed. Until now, we have never received the resolution. All in all, it is ok. I am the reconciler of the company.

Pros

File & pay on time!
The system is very detail into each municipality & such beyond my calculation.

Cons

The problem that we're having with some states needs to be solved.
The GSLR report can be easier to read.

The company I employ uses SureTax as its sales tax computation engine. The company is in the telecommunications space and has various questions regarding the taxability and applicability of state and local taxes regarding its products and services. SureTax has been the perfect solution; they are readily available to answer any of your questions and highly attentive regarding the requested information.

SureTax has been the perfect solution; not only are they readily available to fix any and all of your questions, but they are also extremely attentive regarding the information requested. They are the best when it comes to entrepreneurs who are entering into a space that they are not fully aware of from a state and local tax compliance perspective. They can be better from the perspective of developing their client interface.

Excellent platform easy to integrate with your billing platform using API (good support and manual for implementation). Additionally, the web interface has a lot of helpful tools and reports to manage your services. We have been customers for more than 2 years, without any issue with the calculation of my customer taxes.

I utilize CCH SureTax as a sales tax processing software. CCH connects with my ERP system and applies sales tax to customer orders based on location and tax setup on our customer cards. We further utilize CCH to file state sales tax returns in multiple states.

We use CCH® SureTax® to automatically calculate tax amounts for products based on pre-configured bundles that our customer's purchase. We utilize the API to do this calculation and return accurate values to then pass on to and charge our customers for as a part of the full invoice. We also generate reporting from the CCH® SureTax® portal to assist with compliance and reporting.

The biggest reason why I would recommend CCH® SureTax® is the stellar support. I am able to submit support tickets for complicated use of CCH® SureTax®, detailing different business cases or technical issues, and I receive a response to properly resolve the issue very quickly (usually within 1 day). The support agents are able to respond to difficult support issues and provide helpful suggestions for resolutions.

Suretax is a verification tool to ensure the business accurately collects and reports tax. Suretax is used to verify the accuracy of sales numbers. Suretax addresses the problem of accurately taxing or exempting each customer transaction. Suretax addresses the problem of expired exemptions. Most users interface with Suretax through D365's callout to verify the transaction live. A select group of users populate and maintain Suretax and use it to generate data on demand.

Importing transactions.

Editing existing exemptions.

Likelihood to Recommend

Starting from zero with Suretax would be ideal. I found it cumbersome and time-consuming if you need to import existing data. We opted not to import existing certificates after seeing the process for data. The pre-defined reports are beneficial, but we cannot define custom reports, which is limiting.
