Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have eliminated all threat-related parameters from the implementation of Check Point Cloud Guard Cloud Native Security Platform. We have been deployed our infrastructure in Microsoft Azure Cloud and worried about the security after the deployment of Check Point Cloud Guard; we have achieved all our security concerns with a Native solution.

Pros

  • Cloud Native integration.
  • Excellent and Clean UI.
  • Cloud Infra Security Management.

Cons

  • Deployment method.
  • Technical support.
  • Cloud-based manageability.

Likelihood to Recommend

Checkpoint Cloud Guard Native Security Platform is much better in native cloud infra security requirements. It works well, and the manageability of said product is good. But If you are having some hybrid kind of environment, it is not suitable, and the products have more complexity to deploy. There are so many other players to do well in this segment.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have the Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management application is installed for our financial biggie client. It is immensely helping them to identify events, remediate them, keeping the overall compliance posture in good shape. We assisted them to have it integrated with endpoints, systems etc. They have a public cloud environment leveraging AWS in Prod and Multi-cloud in Dev environments.

Pros

  • Automate Alert Management
  • Threat identification
  • Compliance and Security Posture checks
  • Detect misconfiguration
  • Centralized event management

Cons

  • Support Services - Support during implementation
  • Proof-of-concept - Needs to more detailed
  • Troubleshooting multi-cloud/ vendor issues
  • Should contain all the compliance standards - NIST, HIPPA, FedRAMP

Likelihood to Recommend

Scenarios most suited -
1) All the Cyber Security focused development environments
2) Definitely a must for Financial Clients since it deals with live money transactions - Hence it is imperative to keep the Network and tech asset environment secure, and compliant to standards
3) IAM is another area where it plays an IMP part - For eg one of our healthcare clients where they wanted to restrict access
4) Dashboards are also great, we can share the results to GISO/CISO level folks - Custom dashboard feature

  • Integration with public cloud providers.
  • Rich UI with great dashboards.
  • Great assets inventory.
  • Clarity module.

  • Costs.
  • Add more supported assets.
  • SAML integration.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dome9 can be used to have visibility into cloud assets and security policies across all the virtual networks, regions, and accounts on AWS, Azure and GCP. It also provides continuous enforcement of regulatory compliance standards and security best practices, with the ability to auto-remediate misconfigurations. So Dome9 is well suited for companies using cloud providers that want to take control of their resources.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using Proofpoint CloudGuard Dome9 for advanced threat protection across our AWS and Azure cloud environments. We also leverage the compliance and governance protections as well to ensure we are meeting audit requirements. The easy to read dashboard helps reduce time by providing a real-time snapshot of our cloud environments.

Pros

  • Advanced Threat protection via Check Point CloudGuard proven ThreatCloud intelligence feeds for malicious IP's is a nice feature.
  • We have not set up the cloud bots auto-remediation functionality yet, but from initial testing, it looks to be something worth utilizing.
  • Having reporting tie in's with our ServiceNow asset management platform is very handy.

Cons

  • There is not a comprehensive amount of documentation on how to set up best practices.
  • Our initial set up assistance from Proofpoint approved vendor did not go smoothly.
  • The ability to add more customized widgets in the main overview screen would be helpful.

Likelihood to Recommend

The threat intelligence feeds are nice in conjunction with Anti Virus, behavior analytics, and Intrusion detection capabilities make it an all-around solid product. The incident management piece could be better defined. No two-factor authentication from what we have seen so far is in place. The ability to detect misconfigurations is a little tricky to set up but will provide some positive insights.

This basically helps us monitor our public cloud environment and also reports on our compliance status based on pre-configured framework templates available within the tool. CloudGuard Dome9 is primarily used by the security team to ensure all assets within the cloud environment are properly configured in line with the organization's policy and to minimize overall risk.

Pros

  • Minimal false positives if configured properly.
  • End to end visibility in real-time.
  • Multi platform monitoring.

Cons

  • Compared to another widely used competitor, this meets all our requirement as of today.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would say, this was really built for the cloud. It stands out!!
