CMiC is used by FCL for tracking activities on commercial construction projects in Field and managing financial tasks in Enterprise. Activities include everything from buy-out to writing subcontracts and change orders to daily site journals and checklists. The system also stores information regarding project contacts, documents and drawings. The subcontract and change order amounts flow over to the Enterprise where CMiC is used to process subcontractor payments, general AP and AR, job billing to owners and charging labor time to jobs. CMiC is also used to forecast project progress and address potential issues proactively.
Pros
AP processing utilizing Image Manager
Budget and Cost Management in Field to process subcontracts and change orders
Security roles to manage access
Cons
Forecasting can be inconsistent depending on configuration
Security set up can be complicated and tedious
Job Billing can be inconsistent depending on configuration
Likelihood to Recommend
CMiC is a robust platform best suited for large companies with resources for implementation and management of the program. One analogy is CMiC is like a droid phone where the user must decide how to use all the features of the program (as opposed to an iPhone where most configuration decisions are made for the user). Smaller companies with limited resources can struggle with CMiC both with the expense and configuration.

CMiC Construction Platform is our main accounting, payroll, asset management and field management program. It addresses the issue of information being in many different locations. It is used by all levels, divisions and departments at our company. Deletion of information is restricted to a few users and employees are restricted to the areas they primarily work in.
Pros
Tracks Costs
Reports Cost
Ties source records to additional records
Cons
In my experience, setup of program is very cumbersome. Multiple Consultants sessions are required at an additional cost to demonstrate how it could be setup. A more in-dept, strategic approach would be better then try and see approach.
Programming changes to the program cause issues in daily usage.
In my opinion, Support is lacking. Tickets can be submitted but many times the issue is not clearly understood. I think it would resolve issues more quickly to speak with someone rather than weeks of back and forth.
Likelihood to Recommend
In my opinion, expect to invest a lot of money and time in getting the program up and running. Staff shortages are significant so implementation and resolution of issues is slow and frustrating. In my experience, upgrades haven't been smooth as daily operations are stopped until fixes are applied. Also, in my experience, integrations with third-party software, like Kofax, are problematic.
I have found that it's a several year process to get the programing going. I think, if it wasn't for the regular glitches the overall concept is commendable.

Administrative Assistant in Engineering (501-1000 employees)
All areas of business from accounting to project management to payroll. We replaced Viewpoint accounting with CMiC Construction Platform and much of what we were doing in Procore from a project management standpoint. We are in the process of getting rid of Procore entirely for CMiC Construction Platform. CMiC Construction Platform is a bit more powerfull in terms of reporting and meets out needs of a "one stop shop".
Pros
Custom Reporting
Access from anywhere
Journal Entries
Change Order management
Cons
Speed
In my opinion, converting is difficult to put it lightly
In my opinion, submitting cases can be slow to get solutions to issues that arise
Likelihood to Recommend
CMiC Construction Platform is a good software for a one stop shop so to speak. We are very happy with the ability to do all of our project management functions like budgeting, cost reporting, subcontract and change order management, billing, etc. It is also a highly functioning accounting software. Previously we were using procore and viewpoint and the ERP was not always seemless so it is nice to have everything in one place. There are a lot of places where we can import and export data which makes life easier in many respects.
We use it from pipline planning to end of job, in the future we hope to start using it for warranty. Just by moving to this product we were able to double our workload and keep relatively the same number of staff, whereas before we were looking to hire more people. The workflows and MIP's create a large amount of efficiencies.
Pros
Workflows
Reports
Access
Ease of use
Cons
Daily Logs
Customizable Workflows
Easier to follow documentation
Likelihood to Recommend
If you have more than 3 jobs running at once this is the ideal product, if you are only doing one or two jobs a year than I would look elsewhere as it might be overkill. However if you are looking to expand without taking on a lot of new staff this product can help with that.
Our company implemented CMiC to bring the field and corporate together on one consolidated platform. It is the primary Project Management and Accounting system for the company. We complete our payroll and union payroll reporting in CMiC. We also utilize the Equipment modules in CMiC for costing and billing. The job cost, subcontract commitments, and job billing data populate the contract forecasts, which flow into the WIP. We store some documents electronically in CMiC; however, many are outside the system.
Pros
It stores the company's main data in a central location.
Cons
In my opinion, Payroll support response times for critical issues are far longer than specified in the contract 90% of the time. Other issues have taken up to 18 months to resolve.
In my opinion, patches always break at least one existing functionality. Patches are a major issue for most companies using CMiC Enterprise or PAAS.
In my opinion, clients are responsible for testing ALL functionality used in every patch. Time demands are excessive.
In my opinion, CMiC trainers are often unknowledgeable. A few are good, but we received more than one trainer who was in their first or second week with CMiC.
I believe the description on CMiC's billable Contracts and Work Orders are purposefully short and deceptive about hidden costs. This has been a fight since day one and never improved.
In my opinion, users receive a ton of obscure error messages and may be system issues.
In my opinion, performance is often slow and problematic.
In my opinion, implementation takes over a year for the majority of companies. In our case, over two years.
In my experience, payroll tax reports were not fixed until right before or even on the due date.
In my experience, this ERP requires the company to have full-time people dedicated to the implementation, upgrades, patches, user training, and reporting/handling of support issues. The upgrade process had so many issues it became known as a downgrade at our company.
In my opinion, the customer success team was unhelpful.
In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform focuses on creating new features instead of fixing the existing features with problems.
In my opinion, CMiC does not listen and enact positive change.
In my opinion, promises are not kept.
Likelihood to Recommend
In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform is not well-suited for companies unwilling to dedicate overly patient full-time people to supporting it. In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform is not well-suited for companies unprepared to spend more than originally expected to implement and support it. In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform is generally more appropriate for large companies in the ENR top 100 willing to deal with long wait times and not worried about the cost. In my opinion, having a programmer on staff is necessary, but it is almost impossible to find one.
Replaced 10 to 20 different software packages, each with its own database, with one application in one database, optimize time, It is much easier to manage a cloud-based system. CMiC sometimes presents slowness in the system, which can cause delay in the delivery of the results but it works correctly on a daily basis
Pros
result delivery
software solutions
construction industry
Cons
software
civil engineering software improvement

Construction companies(clients) need a complete understanding of ongoing projects ( building construction). That includes, how much construction is completed, what are current tasks and applied human force, and the Inventory level. Also, planned activities/Tasks and it's allotment along with expected dates. CMiC Construction Platform Provides a complete picture of the project if required inputs provide the proper way. Labor/ Humanforce can easily understand what task they have been assigned and its tentative completion date.
Pros
Task Creation & Sub Task Creation
Logical Tasks Grouping
Tasks Implementation in sequential manner and parallels way
Vendor/Labor allotment on Tasks
Cons
For New user, it need time to understand the navigation & Control
Add to Favorite sort of functionality need to be added to access repeatedly accessing features

CMiC Construction Platform maintained a focus on automating functions – such as enterprise planning, human capital management, and asset management, field operations, project management & controls, and collaboration. Project information is on a real-time basis, so all information is always complete and accurate and this is the reason construction firms can keep multiple projects running smoothly, and on time, while better controlling their projects.
We are in the implementation phase for CMiC Field tools. We are replacing Prolog and adding mobile capability with CMiC. CMiC provides integrated project management modules that our current system does not offer. Our next phase is to implement mobile time tracking within CMiC, followed by contract forecasting.
Pros
Subcontract/PO management with Docusign integration
Submittal/RFI management
External partner portal for collaborators
Easy to use mobile tools
Cons
Forms/checklists feature unused because lacking basic functions
Submittal/RFI reviewer table as taken time to understand to fit our current processes
Some fields are hard coded which require UDF workaround
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited for companies that require a tailored system with the ability to make changes in-house as needed.
We use CMiC to run a large portion of our business, from tracking project budgets and costs, to HR, to equipment, and accounting. We run all invoices through workflows and can tie costs directly and instantly to jobs. We collect time and process payroll which also ties to our project costs. We take advantage of the subcontractor qualifications module as well as opportunity management to monitor subcontractors and track pursuits. We especially take advantage of the unified data structure and have created over 60 BI reports that we use to help monitor all of our departments. Our processes in CMiC allow us to collect clean data, which we use to help make decisions on how to run our business. The ease of access and consistency of good data is a great benefit to using CMiC.
Pros
Reasonable price for what it offers
Connected database, especially with accounting and operations
Ability to configure the platform to fit our business needs
Cons
Needs to be more user friendly on the mobile side of the platform. Ease of use is key here.
There is not much instruction or support in standing up some programs like deploying ECM for outlook, making Collaboration Gateway work, or setting up the system for getting Plans available on the mobile devices.
Security configuration is extremely detailed and spread throughout the system. It is extremely hard to make adjustments to a person's security unless you know exactly where to look, which requires years of experience but shouldn't.

The platform is well suited for tracking project financials. The direct tie between the project budgets and costs on the accounting side makes this platform extremely valuable as we have real time cost data to make decisions from.

The platform is great in that it integrates the majority of our major processes. We can track a pursuit in Opportunity Management and push that information directly to a project. We hire people through the system and they are available to input on a project. We track time and pay people through CMiC and even manage our equipment fleet. This one platform satisfies a lot of our business needs, which makes our technology stack a bit easier to manage.

The platform as it stands today is not well suited for mobile consumption. We have users not use the mobile platform due to issues with losing data when not in wifi and issues with not understanding how to use the system.
