I've been using Code Compare for the last 1 year & I am very happy to use this. It is beneficial when you got any conflict while committing a merge in a repository. You can see easily what code commit you need to push or which one you need to discard. You can identify each code line by line by which you can merge code our accordingly. In an IT Company, it is very helpful for employees to merge their code efficiently & faster without any loss of code due to code conflict. You can also integrate this with GIT & Visual Studio. In my company, all are using Code Compare & we are happy to use this.
  • You can merge the code & resolve the conflict by checking your code line by line.
  • You can use this tool with with GIT & Visual Studio as well
  • You can use this tool on all operating system like Windows, Linus & Mac OS
  • The UI of Code Compare is very old. I think if they update the GUI then it will be very helpful.
  • I think if they will add other options like code commit, cloning repository then it will be complete to use.
  • I think right now it is working slow while comparing code. It will be good if it work faster.
I think to resolve code conflicts easily & faster you can use this software. Right now, I am working on a big project & there are 3-4 members who are also working on the same project & repository. Many times two employees are working on the same screen & when we are trying to merge our code that time we got some code conflicts & without Code Compare it is very difficult to resolve conflicts & merge the code. So that time it is beneficial to use the Code Compare to resolve the code conflicts by checking line-by-line code & merge it. The UI of Code Compare is very simple & old & there are other code compare tools that are also available which UI is better than the Code Compare like meld, etc. So In this scenario, it is less appropriate to use this tool. If the Code Compare team upgrades the UI & makes it faster then it will be more beneficial to use.

Problem Statement : As we are a startup, we have lots of trainee which may not always be familiar with mainstream VCS's out there. so we simply have them submit their work in zip and one person manually combines the code. if one does it by checking every files and changes manually, it'll take a lot of work

Solution : we saved great effort by including Code Compare. not just incorporating multiple projects but that too with great aid of great visual cues. it greatly increased out productivity.
  • Visual cue with green and red highlights
  • Comprehensive comparison result analysis
  • Pane UI to simply drag drop between panes
  • Dark mode would have been a welcome change.
  • UI could be updated to latest standard rather than old windows square looking UI.
  • Despite being simple to use, a user guide would be appreciated.
If your developer team is well-versed with standard VCS then I don't think they need this additional software to occupy their memory, they already have those capabilities within all VCS. A well-suited use case can be a team where not everybody has knowledge of VCS but has to collaborate on a project.

This tool has been using to compare and merge the files and folders. It helps to integrate to synch the code with the production system. It also helps to the developer to merge and compare their changes in TFS.
  • Easy to compare files and folders as it provides many features to set different colors while matching.
  • Easy to sync local clones with the production system.
  • It allows to user to compare the file within multiple windows.
  • It takes some time while comparing files.
  • It supports multi tabs comparison but it shows the difference after some time.
  • It should show the notification to other users in case both are working on the same file.
There are various tools available for comparison, but I prefer to use this tool as it provides many features while comparing or merging file. The graphic user interface is very simple and attractive.
