What is ElasticRoute?
ElasticRoute is a transportation & logistics software for fleet management. ElasticRoute uses its own proprietary heuristic based algorithm to solve the vehicle routing problem (VRP). The vendor says it aims to do so efficiently and at an unsurpassed speed, so that businesses worldwide (even those with massive fleets) can benefit from fast and efficient automated route planning.
According to the vendor it takes a mere 90 seconds to plan 1,000 stops, and the routes produced are also cluster-based instead of ones produced by more common radial or greedy route planning algorithms. The vendor says cluster-based routes have the advantage of being “natural,” mimicking how a human would plan.
ElasticRoute accounts for challenges like unplanned changes, or last-minute additions to their delivery plans. ElasticRoute also accounts for factors like time windows, multiple depots, rush hour traffic buffers, service time, driver working hours and more. Besides creating job sequence numbers for every run displayed on the map, ElasticRoute also generates the estimated time of arrival (ETA) for all stops as well.
An open API that’s readily available to the public also allows ElasticRoute to be integrated with other solutions. The vendor says businesses can use the route planning solution together with existing workflows and systems, eliminating the need to work on separate solutions.
