Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Epicor Eclipse for all sales, inventory, purchasing and accounting items in our business. We also use a number of warehouse solutions for pulling and organizing products for our customers.

Pros

It is fairly easy to use, once trained
It takes a lot of the manual thinking out of the process
Able to manage large amounts of inventory

Cons

In my opinion, Epicor seems to want to sell add-on products constantly. They don't provide pricing at the beginning, but then rely on sticker shock and hidden costs (e.g. APIs)
There are times when we cannot figure out where numbers are coming from, especially costs. It would be nice if there was a way to see, in plain English, where a cost is coming from.
It seems unconscionable that we are unable to print financial statements to a pdf file.
In our experience, Support, which had been going well for a while, has become much less reliable and not very timely.

Return on Investment

I can't really provide hard numbers. We can't live without Epicor Eclipse right now, but we might listen to offers of a new ERP system

We use Eclipse for all aspects of the business. Sales, accounting, and warehousing. It is nice to have a solution, when paired with some external sources, that covers all aspects of the business within a single system. It would be great to see the WMS side become more robust. There are limitations within that part that don't allow for ease of use in a distribution center.

Lots of queues for tracking specific items.
All the forensics that are available.

Cons

Need more robust WMS.
Carton packing is not fully integrated.
Better reporting tools.

Positive with the cloud move.
Time saving with 1 platform.
Negative on the fair WMS.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

One of the great features that I have fully utilized in my career from Epicor Eclipse is Accounts Receivable, which records customer payments instantly and processes invoices from the built-in ledger. We have used it in our stores to manage credit, preventing customers with overdue balances from placing new orders.

Cons

The learning curve is steep for new users.
The performance is excellent.

In my experience, there is room for improvement in Epicor Eclipse when creating a support case and then getting a response in a timely manner
In my opinion, there is room for improvement to get Epicor Eclipse to work in a Web browser
