- Provides a sometimes critical solution to security, protected paths for traffic.
- Provides low level (infrastructure level networking) when needed.
- Provides the ground work for higher level application features and security to be layered on later.
Cons
- Cleanup of offering names, and organization in portal for usage can help with client adoption and understanding.
- More validated designs and guidance on recommended practices in the public.
Likelihood to Recommend
This is best suited whenever a client is looking to ensure consistent, secure delivery with multiple locations involved (on-premise private clouds, public cloud environments from different vendors). Especially when multiple traffic types are present and Network level protection is required (L3/L4 DDoS). But even when simply working to provide more manageable (simplified) ingress strategy for a larger ingress footprint, with design goals of more optimization down the road (more/possible east-west rather than only north-south traffic patterns).
