Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using IONOS Hosting for hosting email accounts for a subset of our users. This allows us to have a simple to configure set of email accounts for users that are not part of our full domain and provide a consistent domain name instead of spurious personal accounts, and helps separate personal from work emails.

Pros

Easy to configure email accounts
Effective Spam/virus filtering
Adequate storage space per email account

Cons

Better support for providing SPF and DMARC/DKIM records to prevent our domain from being used to relay spam.
Ability to have an email only hosting plan without associated website, etc.
Ability to brand the webmail interface with corporate branding.

Likelihood to Recommend

Their email hosting has been robust with no outages, or delivery issues. Storage per account is reasonable given the basic hosting cost, but not necessarily leading the pack. Webmail is very functional and has the ability to setup rules. Both POP3 and IMAP are supported.

Finding an affordable and dependable web hosting provider is a great challenge. IONOS has been a great asset to my business as we are able to find the tools needed to bring our website online all in one place without a glitch. From domain registrations to fast and reliable web hosting, domain guards, SSL & wildcard certificates, email hosting, databases, and many more in one simple control panel.

If you are looking to get started online with a limited budget you may be rest assured knowing that it is actually possible in some cases to get a full package that includes web hosting, a starter domain, SSL certificate, domain protection, professional email, etc, for a very affordable price with the ability to save more if you buy a year package. But if you are perhaps looking for one landing page solution where you may benefit from the use of sales funnels and landing pages you may consider something else due to the fact that in my experience a novice can navigate ions but may incur some challenges due to the more technical nature of code based websites eg WordPress can be more technical than a drag and drop landing page hosting site.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It allows leasing Computer servers in the cloud. You do not have to buy your own server/computer, with top notch technology, w/o having to purchase it upfront.

Pros

Keep its servers/leased computers running
Easy to connect to servers, with low computer local capacity and / or low local internet bandwith

Cons

From my experience, customer services does not know how to address issues in an understandable language
I feel that they arbitrarily overcharge w/o any explanation
In my opinion it is really pricey

It is easy to create an account and start using the technology, but in my opinion, when you become a customer you can forget about being treated fairly. I feel it gets even worse when you try to cancel the service, even before the cut off monthly date. From my experience, they will not care about you. In my opinion, compared to US based companies, they have a long way to go as far as customer service goes.

1&1 (now Ionos) is a domain registrar and hosting service provider. I have been using it to register my domains and purchase SSL certificates for years. Their domain registration price includes free private registration so that your details will not be published on WHOIS and their dashboard is easy to navigate and use.

Pros

Private registration: 1&1 offers free private registration which makes them an automatic favorite.
Reliable customer service: always someone available when I call in and I have never had my issue not get resolved.
Easy to use dashboard: domains in one place with DNS settings and other things that can be tweaked. It's easy to add an SSL certificate to domains as well.

Cons

I don't really have any specific issues with 1&1. The only thing I can think of is that when I call into customer service, sometimes the wait time has been really long. So if they could shorten that up, I'd be happy.

Likelihood to Recommend

Reasonable pricing (SSL certificate for only $30! vs the usual $99), ease of use on the backend and/or dashboard, and reliable customer service, all make this a win in my book. And, of course, you can't beat the free private registration that comes with each domain purchase. I've been recommending 1&1 to all my clients for domain purchases for years.

1&1 is utilized across our entire organization for email and domain hosting.

Pros

1&1 provides domain hosting.
1&1 provides excellent customer service.
1&1 provides email hosting.

Cons

1&1 offers a lot of a cart services. They could do a better job at integrating services that are purchased separately from each other.

Likelihood to Recommend

1&1 host our domain and email. They have excellent customer service. And, I rarely have any problems, but I do not know how much better they are than other hosting services.

1&1 is our web hosting solution, registrar, and email provider. They are a dependable solution for us that enables us to present a website with almost zero maintenance time.

Pros

Their uptime is outstanding.
They have great customer support with real people.
They have all the technologies available I need to run my website.
Their dashboard is easy to use.

Cons

I wish they'd let you use other SSL providers.

Likelihood to Recommend

I run five websites off of 1&1 for different outshoots of the company. For our web needs it works perfectly. We have a midgrade hosting package and it works perfectly. I know if issues arose from traffic or storage space 1&1 would have a solution for us.
