Since we are a growing agency with multiple project and hundreds of resources, it is easy to use Kantata for resource planning, allocation, and following that allocation during execution. We can aim for higher resource utilization with this. I don't dislike anything in particular but more filter and sorting options on project page would have been more helpful as it takes a while to find what you are looking for in it's current view.
We use it as a way to track project progress, as well as tasks within the project. It also allows us to track to easily track the time spent on every specific task. Another use for Mavenlink is the ability to communicate efficiently regarding individual project. This avoids a lot of wasted time and confusion.
Pros
User-friendly and intuitive interface
Clearly displays project status
Tracks time spent on individual tasks to better estimate total duration of a project
Cons
Showing time spent on billable vs non-billable tasks.
User-friendly interface, but could be more aesthetically pleasing.
Individual permission and access can be clarified more.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is appropriate and even exceeds expectations 90% of the time. It makes project tracking very easy and visually accessible for most cases. The only occasion where Mavenlink came slightly short was for a special project that required more interaction options among project members. I am certain there are ways to work around that issue, but we did not find them.

It is being used as a project management tool to drive client implementations for professional services. It is being used to structure our project plans and governance, resource client implementations, and provide reporting to management. We have found Mavenlink provides a good means to collaborate across our professional services function. Its activity feed is useful to provide regular updates and keep everyone informed. The task tracker enables Project Managers to assign deliverables to the team and thus helps the team collaborate towards client deliverables. The Gantt helps communicate the delivery plan to the client and enables collaboration with client resources. Customized reports allow management to see the progress of projects and take strategic decisions. The resource planning module allows resourcing coordinators to plan resource assignment for client projects. Tracking of time through timesheets allows Project Managers to manage the project budget. Upstream and downstream integration with tools such as SalesForce and Netsuite enables the organization to coordinate amongst functions such as Sales and Finance. Overall the tool remains a one stop shop for our function and business to align on client implementations.
Pros
It's activity feed is useful to provide regular updates and keep everyone informed
The task tracker enables Project Managers to assign deliverables to the team and thus helps the team collaborate towards client deliverables.
Cons
The Gantt chart does not allow for baselines to be stored
There is no means to upload an excel task tracker and build a plan using an upload
The schedule does not allow for planning of holidays
The status report functionality needs to be improved
Likelihood to Recommend
It is a useful collaboration tool to work on projects together as a team. Functionality to plan projects at a detailed level and report on it could be improved. The Gantt chart does not allow for baselines to be stored. Schedule does not allow planning off holidays. Creating project plans using templates is easy however it would be nice to have the ability to upload an excel sheet to create a task tracker. The roll up of budgets is not available at a milestone level that inhibits ability to track budget at milestones. It would be good to have a status report generated for clients that could be either available as a standard report or as a custom report.
