Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have an OptinMonster plugin operating on our three product websites. It offers visitors the opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter products and has been in place for more than five years. Our newsletters are monetised and a crucial part of our digital revenue strategy.
Newsletter subscriber numbers are consistently bolstered by the plugin capturing new sign-ups.

Pros

  • Capture the attention of visitors
  • Offer editing functionality
  • Operate with reliability
  • Populate newsletter lists automatically

Cons

  • Product news seems scanty
  • The dashboard backend hasn't changed for a long time
  • The chunkiness of the text blocks can be off-putting

Return on Investment

  • Removes stress of manual data entry
  • Works to assist multiple newsletter list growth
  • Works without requiring monitoring

A must-have digital marketing tool for agencies

Pros

  • It is incredibly easy to set up a campaign. They have dozens of templates that already look great, based on different goals or types, such as downloading an eBook, purchasing a product, an alert message, etc. You really just need to brand it to your liking. Adjustments are easy, too, as everything is drag and drop.
  • The options for display rules are also incredible, too, especially if you use WordPress. Show campaigns on specific devices, pages, post types, or categories, and trigger campaigns based on exit intent, time on site, time on page, scroll depth, if they have or haven't seen it before, and many many more.
  • OptinMonster also does a great job of helping their community. Their support team is very responsive and helpful, you can get access to an inner circle Facebook group of other users to learn best practices and they have OptinMonster University to learn how to use the platform better and learn strategies for digital marketing in general.

Cons

  • Analytics is probably the area for the biggest improvement. Other than showing how the number of visitors, number of conversions, and conversion rate, there isn't much else to the native analytics. It would be nice to see campaign metrics side by side. Otherwise, you have to view one campaign at a time. In the history of conversions graph, it doesn't overlay website traffic or show how the conversion rate has changed over time.
  • The only other area that may use improvement is their capable integrations. There are a few that are not provided, such as Kartra and Salesforce.

Return on Investment

  • For several clients that we have implemented OptinMonster for, we have had a significant increase in leads, which keeps our clients happy and we retain the business.
  • Campaigns are quick to set up, so it saves us significant time versus having to go to a web developer to build pop-ups or web forms. We can add something that goes "on top" of the website and turn it on and off with ease or change display rules to adjust how we want to use it.

OptinMonster does more than just help you grow your email list!

Pros

  • Lots of pre-designed campaigns to choose from that are fully customizable.
  • Customizable CSS for each campaign is built in.

Cons

  • There is no end date/time for campaigns to automatically turn them off.

Return on Investment

  • We use OptinMonster during every sale to ensure we get the most revenue possible.
  • The campaign rules allow us to surface campaigns at the right time, to the right users, for optimal list growth.
