Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our parish uses ParishSOFT for accounting, general ledger, parishioner database, and giving history.

Pros

  • Keeping an accurate database of parishioners is easy with ParishSOFT.
  • ParishSOFT accounting is user friendly and intuitive.
  • Printing parishioner contribution statements is quick and easy, and customizable.

Cons

  • A recent change makes entering account numbers more difficult because you have to type the entire number rather than getting prompts from the first number(s).
  • The ability to generate custom reports would be a great improvement.
  • Customer service is really lacking, unless you want to pay for personal training.
  • Exporting to Excel is a great feature, but it needs ALOT of work to make it truly functional. Too many blank columns and rows are inserted that have to be dealt with before you can actually use the data in Excel.

Return on Investment

  • During one major upgrade to the offering module, we lost a lot of productivity because the changes had not been tested. Until the bugs were fixed, which took several weeks, we had to pay for additional help to get routine tasks completed.
  • We completely lost all integrity of our parishioner postings one year because of a "glitch" that ParishSOFT would not support fixing unless we paid an hourly rate...even though the error was on their part.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ParishSOFT provides us the opportunity to use the system to maintain the level of contributions each family make. WE are also able to manage all of events both free and paid events. The system processes may different types of contribution methods, from bank draws to credit and debit charges.

Our major issue is that ParishSOFT does not allow us to utilize it for outside events in charging for various items. We end needing to utilize outside services for these payment types. This increases our costs both administrative and another third party vendor payment.

  • Excellent data base for the accounting of money at a family level by payment.
  • The ability to create forms allowing for individuals to signup for and pay for sponsored events
  • Easy to set the system up to meet the needs of your organization

Cons

  • Capable of taking payments for outside events
  • Facility and logistic management function

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ParishSOFT accounting system is the easiest I've used of all the accounting systems I've used in the past. Simple icons and drop down menus make navigating a breeze.

Pros

  • Posting deposits, creating bills, Journal entries, and running reports.

Cons

  • The only thing I can suggest is frequency of memorized transactions, to allow for bimonthly billing. Right now, the system allows for 26 week cycle.

Return on Investment

  • This ParishSOFT that we use is a company-wide product, and meets the needs of all our churches, schools and other entities.
