Awesome, feasible and future-ready solution for all kinds of Digital Transformation Projects

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

One-stop solution for "Customer Experience" and "Digital Transformation." It perfectly fits as a PIM / MDM / WCMS / CDM or DAM. Any company from mid size to enterprise Pimcore can help them to transform their business swiftly and provide agility to rapidly adopt the market dynamism. Pimcore kind of robust and sophisticated software rarely found in Open Source world which can match the quality and expectation of enterprise proprietary software like Adobe AEM.

Pros

 • PIM - Production Information Management
 • CX - Customer Experience and Customer Data Platform
 • MDM - Master Data Management
 • DAM - Digital Asset Management
 • CMS - Content Management System
 • Digital Commerce

Cons

 • PimCore should make the Video Training free so that it could become more popular among the mass
 • Installation is but tedious for new and seasoned developer. If something like wordpress kind of installer can be developed ... that would be awesome
 • Developer documentation could have been better
 • With growing popularity MACH architecture, I would suggest PIMCore team for making it headless first platform
 • Make single click setup over Digital Ocean, Linode and other cloud provider

Likelihood to Recommend

I have used Pimcore in the following contexts:

1. PIM - Product Information Management

2. MDM - Master Data Management

3. CMS - Content Management System

4. B2B Digital Commerce

5. DAM - Digital Asset Management

A good Open Source PIM Tool

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Pimcore is used for the delivery of key data points related to a product. It's an excellent product information management system used by some specific departments in my organization. The biggest reason why this was considered is that it's a free and open tool that is regularly updated and well supported by its core developers.

Pros

 • Product Information delivery
 • Catalogue Management
 • Digital Asset Management

Cons

 • Can have a better UI.
 • The data delivery channel sometimes breaks.
 • Analytics and reporting could be improved.

Likelihood to Recommend

Pimcore is free so cost is simply not a consideration that organizations need to deal with, if you are looking for a widely supported simple to use PIM tool then your search stops at Pimcore, however, if your needs are bespoke then you are better off with something like Salsify.

Pimcore: Great Platform for building Enterprise Product Information Management Systems

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am an enterprise architect and I use Pimcore to help my customers solve their business problems related to Product Information Management, Digital Asset Management, and Enterprise Content Management. With the emergence of global enterprises, diverse technologies and multiple sales channels, Product Information Management has become a major challenge for enterprises.

Pimcore helps help to build highly flexible and scalable PIM system that serves as a single source of product information for marketing channels, vendors, etc.

It helps enterprises consolidate their product and customer data residing in different silos, without the need for making changes to existing legacy systems.

Pimcore enables seamless delivery of data across multiple channels including Web Portals, Mobile applications, and even catalog publishing systems.

Flexible data model provided by Pimcore enables developers to replicate complex data models with ease.

Being free and open source it is offers a vast pool of developers and great community support.

Pros

 • Pimcore is fully opensource and based on leading Symfony, the leading PHP framework. It has a well-developed partner network and community support.
 • In contrast to other systems that have a quite rigid architecture Pimcore is designed as a platform for developers. It can be used to model complex data architecture with ease and develop features tailored to customer needs.
 • It provides a fully integrated platform for Product Information Management, Digital Asset Management, and Enterprise Content Management. This ensures there is no duplication of assets and content and data across multiple systems.
 • All PIM features are also available through a REST-based Web Service allowing easy integration with other applications.
 • In addition to PIM, DAM and WCM features it also provides a robust eCommerce platform.

Cons

 • Pimcore is not intended to be used as an out of the box system but as a platform. Hence non-technical users take some time to get started with it.

Likelihood to Recommend

Pimcore is especially suitable for an organization that has a complex data model and processes that cannot be met easily with out of the box systems. It is especially helpful where data is lying in multiple legacy systems and needs complex integrations with these systems.

It may not be the best choice for someone looking for and out of the box system with predefined features.
