Legal professionals and eDiscovery teams have found immense value in utilizing Relativity for their document management and information retrieval needs. With its powerful culling and filtering capabilities, users are able to efficiently organize and retrieve documents based on keywords or labels, saving them valuable time and effort. The platform's comprehensive solution for eDiscovery-related work has served over 1000 clients, supporting them in processing electronic evidence, making coding decisions, conducting reviews, and performing analytics.

In addition to its robust functionality, Relativity offers granular security controls that allow administrators to ensure access is limited to specific groups or individuals. This level of control gives peace of mind when handling sensitive data. Moreover, the platform's ability to host and manage various file types, including audio files, further enhances its usefulness for legal professionals.

Relativity has proven especially valuable in managing electronic documents for legal matters. It serves as an online document management system, facilitating the storage, review, redaction, and production of documents and native files. Users can easily conduct document searches and prepare for upcoming depositions by creating collections of relevant documents and native files that can be downloaded for review or used as deposition exhibits. By streamlining the organization and accessibility of critical information, Relativity simplifies the complexity of managing electronic documents in legal workflows.

Overall, Relativity's wide range of features and capabilities make it a go-to solution for legal professionals seeking efficient document management, data processing, and collaboration tools. Its reliable performance and user-friendly interface have garnered positive feedback from users across the legal industry.

Scalability: Several users have praised Relativity for its scalability, noting that it can handle a large number of documents, reviewers, and cases. This capability makes it ideal for organizations dealing with significant data volumes and complex review processes.

Customizability: Reviewers appreciate the ability to customize Relativity to support various workflows and integrate with third-party tools. This flexibility allows users to tailor the software to their specific needs and enhance their overall productivity.

Security: Users value the high level of security provided by Relativity when dealing with sensitive and confidential documents. The secure environment gives peace of mind to users, ensuring that their data remains protected throughout the review process.

High Level of Expertise and Administration: Some users have mentioned that the software requires a significant level of expertise and a large headcount to effectively administer it.

Cost Considerations for Providers: Reviewers have noted that hosting the software yourself can be challenging as it requires investment in servers and ideally being housed in a data center, which may not be feasible for some providers. Additionally, the monthly user license fee for each user accessing the tool could be seen as costly by external clients, particularly when there are numerous users on a case.

Performance Issues: Several reviewers have experienced frequent memory crashes and slow processing speeds while using the software, which can impact overall productivity.

Users recommend using Relativity for document review and similar workflows. They suggest considering RelOne to address infrastructure and upfront capitalization challenges. Users also recommend embracing the cloud for better long-term alignment. Proper training and implementation are advised when considering Relativity for every project. However, users caution that other e-discovery software may offer quicker and more efficient performance. Users also warn about being cautious of the vendor's incentives and suggest protecting one's own interests. Despite this, users find Relativity worth the money and believe it offers a more efficient way of conducting discoveries. They highly recommend Relativity for reviewing large volumes of documents, running multiple workspaces over the long term, and providing advisory services in litigation and investigations. Users acknowledge that there is a steep learning curve with Relativity but assert that it can be overcome with training. They recommend having a training session before launching Relativity to reduce confusion and ensure that the e-discovery vendor is knowledgeable about all of its features. Overall, users highly recommend Relativity for document review and similar workflows, suggesting that best practices, training, and exploring advanced features can further enhance its effectiveness.

I use it for document review. It’s a great platform.I manage a team of attorneys who use it. We like the tagging feature and email threading feature. The similar documents is good too. It’s for a large number of documents. Only issue is log in problems occasionally. Productions are easy.

The tagging and threading function is great! It helped me find useful documents for depositions. The production time allowed me to get out two big productions to opposing counsel on time. The customer service is great. The review platform is easy to use and downloading documents is fast. My team can share documents easily.

We use it for some of our legal matters to manage electronic documents.
  • The interface is simple compared to the competition
  • The Relativity community is good and supportive
  • The software is very customiseable
  • Their pricing models can be difficult given they have a lot of spend criteria
We like to use Relativity for small and large matters. It is extremely rare that I would think of using another eDiscovery platform. We conduct PII reviews for one of our service lines. We use another software called Canopy which has much more suitable features.

Our organization uses Relativity to have it as a platform for all eDiscovery-related work and presents this platform to more than 1000 clients for their electronic evidence, documents processing, coding decisions, review, analytics, and all other eDiscovery related counsel work. It is a very robust platform for hosting documents, various kinds of files, audio, etc. It has lots of analytics and processing prowess, very detailed in-depth review features, and granular security controls for access of specific objects and things to particular groups or individuals.
  • Documents review
  • Imaging and production of documents with redactions
  • Searches and search term reports
  • Content Analytics

Relativity is well suited for all the eDiscovery workflows. It's excellent for document review, coding, active learning, content and structured analytics, searches, persistent highlights, imaging, and burning redactions into productions. The error rates with processing in Relativity are a little compared to other eDiscovery processing tools in the market. It is solely for document review purposes legal scenarios or otherwise, but it is not a complete solution for building customized hosting nor neither it is a replacement for conventional websites.

I use it as Admin to perform the task as per my job profile. In terms of problem-solving, I use it for Processing data and producing the data for our clients. I use it daily to do the tasks assigned to me and we support our clients in all their requirements and use the power of relativity for Providing managed services at times.
  • Processing of data in relativity
  • Migration of workspaces
  • Producing documents
  • User interface
  • Session Time out
  • Support for multiple tabs at same time
If I have to specify some scenarios based on my experience with relativity would be well suited because of its ability to provide data in a presentable manner and play around with data is easy. It is a good platform to perform work with both efficiency and effectiveness.

I use Relativity as an online document management system. It's used to store document collections, review documents for privilege and responsiveness, redact and produce documents and native files. Also used for document searches and review for preparations for upcoming depositions. Create and download collections of documents and native files for review and use as deposition exhibits.
  • Searching for documents and native files with various terms and approaches.
  • Tagging documents and native files for further review.
  • Creating and downloading collections of documents and native files for depositions.
  • More access to modifying homepage and search results view.
  • More control over adding and deleting features.
For the most part, Relativity is fairly easy to learn and use on a daily basis. Like most programs and platforms, you can learn to streamline usage, features, and results/downloads with more users over time. Just be careful how with multiple users in a document database, you have to make sure everyone knows NOT to make any edits or changes to tags and collections that others have set up.

Relativity is used to review electronic discovery documents. It allows users to sort, group, and mark documents so they can be labelled and accessed later by others by searching keywords or labels.
  • Allows for searchability
  • Provides documents tags
  • Labels Documents
  • Memory
  • Crashes frequently
  • Works slowly
Relativity is particularly well suited for large electronic discovery matters where a lawyer is attempting to sort through thousands of documents in a short period of time.

Relativity is primarily used by my organization in two separate workflows: 1) cull/filter data, 2) review client data for production and prepare productions AND review of in-bound productions from opposing counsel
  • Can scale to support a review of a large number of documents and reviewers and/or large number of cases
  • Can be customized to support a variety of different workflows and integration with 3rd party tools and external processes and scripting of different fields
  • Very secure. Can be enabled to run 2 factor authentication
  • Very powerful tool, but does require a high level of expertise and head count to administer the product.
  • If hosting yourself, requires investment in servers and ideally is housed in a data center
  • Providers need to pay kCura a monthly user license fee for every user who has access to the tool. Providers can purchase blocks of users, but with a large amount of users on a case, it's cost that some external clients are not thrilled about
It's well suited for culling/filtering data, review and production of data. It's not well suited for organizations who don't have expertise administering a similar product and/or infrastructure to support the tool
