Sonian (discontinued)

We use the Cloud Archiver to back up all of our O365 emails. This allows us to no longer use PST files as well as keep our inboxes clean. It has also helped us with legal compliance, where we need to pull old emails.

The Cloud Archive is a great service to ensure users never lose an email. It also helps admins and legal to be able to find anything they need. It does not replace a good backup as there isn't a way to easily restore back to a mailbox. There is also no way to export your data if you ever want to migrate.

Our Barracuda Cloud Archiving is used across our entire organization. It archives all incoming and outgoing email, as well as inter-company email. The ability to have an Outlook extension for users to search for emails months or years old, has proven useful. No more calls to IT to restore old email files or do searches for the users.

We have had a couple of legal inquiries which required us to review emails for a user or users. Using the Barracuda Cloud Archiving Service, we have been able to perform searches quickly, narrowing or expanding the search criteria is easy, resulting in exactly what we were looking for. This has saved us with claims for collections, as well as a couple of legal HR matters. It is my trusted go to application.

Sonian Archiving was previously used across the organisation for our email archiving needs.

Sonian is simple, intuitive and easy to set up. However, it’s lacking in some areas in terms of the level of functionality which some of its competitors can offer. However, Sonian has a healthy roadmap for 2017 which addresses these gaps and if done well, could make their product market leading.

It's a great product for archiving emails but I believe it could expand its features to make it more competitive.

The search capability really stands out for me, particularly at an administrator level. It reduces time and effort by allowing you to quickly find and access data.
