If you have some experience with SSIS, you can easily implement the same within SSIS and save money as Informatica license is much more expensive than the time spent for the development of custom ETL... … SSIS provided good value for the money SSIS comes as a feature of SQL Server Standard/Enterprise etc. editions so we don't have to spend extra money for other ETL tools.

The PDI ETL tool is open source software and does not charge a license fee. … Paying a license fee to the SSIS ETL vehicle for our enterprise projects increases our costs.

Since we have an enterprise license, SSIS is basically free for us and would be a no-brainer to renew. … Since we have an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft, it does not cost any extra to use SQL Server Integration Services unlike Azure Data Factory or Informatica.

As an example - you can use a free Hyper-V core server on a very cheap 1000-1500 USD Dell/HPE entry-level server, then virtualize one instance of Win10 Pro, and inside this virtual machine install...

SSIS is more affordable from a cost and licensing perspective (if you have Microsoft licensing), but Denodo is no slouch. … We use SSIS frequently as an ETL and Data Integration Tool for clients that have the Microsoft enterprise licensing as it offers decent base-level capabilities for traditional database management...

I know in my "pros" comments, I said it was nice because we already had access to SSIS by virtue of being able to install it on existing SQL servers with no additional license cost.

Like any IT department, we almost always have an MS SQL license and therefore also access to this tool, though the free version also works just fine with a little less functionality.
