Solid foundation, lots of potential
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use TaxJar to estimate taxes needed to be collected for selling our software subscriptions to users of different states. Further it helped accounting figure out what taxes were owed to what states. It was mainly implemented with an SDK making calls to an API, however TaxJaar was working on seamless stripe integration.
Pros
- estimate taxes via zip code
- estimate taxes via full address
- generate reports of taxes owed to states
- straight forward API
Cons
- stripe integration needs improvement
- taxes are based off of USPS data rather than IRS data
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are selling digital or physical products to people all across the states, you will owe taxes to those states. Being able to estimate on the fly and charging the consumer will be better for the bottom line of the business. Further the reports on what those numbers are at the end of the year are invaluable.
