Cloud computing made for humans

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We host our platform with Vultr after hosting it on Azure what sold it for us is how easy everything is to use in contrast to other apps where you need a PHD to do anything

Pros

  • Its simple to use
  • Makes easy to migrate projects
  • No vendor locks
  • Wordpress/Woocommerce compatibility

Cons

  • Limited Service Ecosystem
  • More SQL support apps
  • More Documentation

Likelihood to Recommend

We had our app hosted in Microsoft Azure and doing anything took ages because of endless set ups its not at all oriented to users that are not cloud computing experts, in our case what sold it for us is that its easy to use and understand if i have to set up an enviroment it takes me a couple minutes not a whole day of research like used to be with Azure

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Vultr as a VPS for our demo environment for shwocasing our UCAAS solutions to customers . The ability to manage the environment and the low latency of access as well as the uptimes and 360 degre connectivity makes it an ideal demo environment .

Pros

  • The uptime is perfect . If there are any downtimes it is well informed and its in non - production hours to ensure that the systems are not hit
  • Accessibility and the dashboard is amazing where you have full control over the VPS system.
  • The flexibility of OS on which to create your VPS is also amazing .

Cons

  • The response times for support tickets is too high and a quicker response time would be appreciated
  • Availability of the VPS solution in Middle east and Africa would help
  • Abilito to connect SIP trunks would make it more easy to run active communictaion platforms on Vultr

Likelihood to Recommend

The uptime in Vultr is good for the price that we pay for .

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We provision VMs using API integration across many countries.

Pros

  • Affordable hosting for bandwidth intensive apps
  • API based automation
  • Provisioning from images

Cons

  • Using custom domains for the remote KVM
  • Webhook events for VM events

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for deployment of VMs programatically. Less ideal when it comes to building automation around fault tolerance (webhooks will help here, like let me know when a VM has a state change etc)

We rely a lot on polling, which sucks.

Very good pricing and reliability

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Vultr to host servers that we want to have higher reliability compared to our other providers. Their commitment to uptime is great, and their price is competitive. If for instance we wanted to get similar quality in AWS we would be paying a lot more. Vultr offers a great price/quality ratio.

Pros

  • Well price
  • Quality servers
  • Uptime
  • Speed

Cons

  • Bring down prices
  • Better database scaling
  • Planet scale databases

Likelihood to Recommend

If you want to have very good uptime for a cluster or a service, Vultr is the way to go. If you want pur compute power at a lower uptime some other competitors will be better priced. We use Vultr only for critical services and other providers for the hard compute.

Vultr is a breath of fresh air

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Vultr for much of core SaaS infrastructure to service our data, API, and messaging needs.

Pros

  • Cost-effective elastic infrastructure
  • Simple provisioning
  • Fully integrated with IaC providers

Cons

  • Better documentation
  • More granular IAM
  • Support for more complex VPC configurations

Likelihood to Recommend

Vultr is well suited for simple cloud architectures where you are more comfortable "rolling your own" components for more complex needs. It avoids the overcomplexity of other major cloud providers while offering a more cost-effective solution. It may not be well suited for architectures that require more turn-key services such as batch processing, message buses, or advanced security and monitoring.

Infrastructure for the capable

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

A number of my companies have bare metal machines with Vultr. It's one of the best companies I have seen that support this for a reasonable price, which allows us to offer a great service at a reasonable price to our customers and clients.

Its likely we'll move additional services there as they have since released a number of services that will help us in our core goals.

Pros

  • Bare metal servers
  • Great pricing
  • Support

Cons

  • A better control panel with more stats/data about the servers you're running

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need secure bare metal servers and you have the technical expertise to setup and manage them then Vultr is a great fit.

If you're new to the game and don't have as much experience then they have a more comprehensive feel which may require more training.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We need cheap, reliable infra and Vultr does that for us. Their managed database service is exceptional and the kubernetes control plane is rock solid. Scaling has been easy and we've had no infra related outages. Wholeheartedly recommend Vultr to small startups who need to get something together quickly.

Pros

  • Pricing
  • Product selection
  • Managed DB

Cons

  • More competitive pricing at the lowest tier

Likelihood to Recommend

I would say go for it. The managed DB is good but these days I would probably recommend hetzner with a different managed DB company for just that part.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Vultr for the creation, testing and launch of production environments for web hosting services. By creating instances we can quickly set up specific sizes according to the type of scenario and independent usage of each service. Vultra has provided us with the ease of doing this almost instantaneously through a user friendly interface.

Pros

  • Support
  • Server availability
  • multiple instance sizes.

Cons

  • backups for dedicated servers
  • upload and create custom snapshots
  • Notification of server downtime

Likelihood to Recommend

Highly recommended for critical services where you need the servers to remain operable.I would not recommend it in scenarios where the budget is very tight.
