Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

We use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC across our firm in various capacities. We use it to read and mark up various PDF documents, including pleadings and supporting case law for use during litigation. our firm intake forms are all PDF forms that in-person prospective clients fill out on an iPad using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. We also use it for electronically signing pleadings and orders as well as contracts. It helps us do our best to run a paperless law office.
  • Commenting on PDFs
  • Highlighting and mark-up of PDFs
  • Filling in PDF forms
  • Securely signing PDFs
  • You can't use the search feature while you are marking up a PDF.
  • Difficult to use all features with just an Apple Pencil. I have to revert to the touch screen and typing for certain features.
  • Electronic signing of documents.
  • Accurate and simple completion of forms.
  • Easy mark-up of PDF documents.
  • It has helped streamline and reduce paper files, so we actually have a smaller office footprint which saves us about $1,500/month on our lease. Not 100% attributable to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, but certainly partially.
  • For ease of integration, we also use Adobe Acrobat, which isn't the most cost-effective PDF program we could use so that itself is a poorer ROI than we accept for ease of use with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
I also use PDFpenPro on my personal laptop which inevitably I do work on, and I find it to be a great replacement for Adobe Acrobat. I also use Preview a lot of viewing and reading PDFs, but I do think the free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is better than Preview for marking up PDF documents as well as filling in PDF forms that you encounter in the wild as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC seems to format form fields better and respect form fields formatting more

I have found Adobe Acrobat Reader DC excellent and more reliable for marking up, especially highlighting, PDFs. This is more pronounced on scanned PDFs than converted documents. I think Adobe Acrobat Reader DC also handles PDF forms better than most other readers do. I however have found it very difficult to arrange multiple PDFs in any manner just using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, so we avoid using it in actual litigation planning.
