Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is being used in my organization to distribute different kinds of documents. These include compensation letters, HR letters, and as the primary PDF reader document for all attachments distributed via emails. These can be project requirement documents, proposal documents, project planning documents. This is the default PDF reader document across the entire organization in multiple countries and departments.
  • Document editing permissions
  • Document sharing permissions
  • Performance while managing large size documents
  • Copy paste from PDF to other formats needs to be better
  • Image resolutions can sometimes get reduced
  • Select and copying from multiple pages can be cumbersome
  • Sharing permissions
  • Editing permissions
  • Sharing and accessing from cloud
  • In document search
  • Meet compliance requirements
  • Security & privacy capabilities
  • Collaboration across teams
While I was not involved in selection of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as the default PDF reader for my organization, it has become the industry standard with available integrations with MS office, cloud, social media. There are few other competitors like slim PDF who have lesser memory requirements but PDF today is ubiquitous with Adobe's PDF reader

Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is well suited for sharing documents with a large audience in a manner that allows the organization to have control on permissions for editing and sharing of the entire document. As an de-facto standard, most web and mobile users have the reader installed and it helps sharing and collaborating with PDF formats.

It may be less suitable for design documents e.g. those with UX projects
