Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan
We use Anaplan for headcount management, sales quota calculations, and sales performance reporting. We have a couple of primary users and a number of people who use it to view reports across the sales operations organization. Some of our quota calculations are very complex so when we implemented Anaplan, it replaced an extensive set of complicated and unreliable spreadsheet-based processes.
Pros
- Anaplan can complete complex calculations on large volumes of data in real-time. For anyone who's ever stared hopelessly at the status bar in Excel while it's "calculating" Anaplan is an absolute life saver.
- Anaplan's activity tracking is amazing. It keeps a detailed log of everything, everyone has done, and allows you to simply and easily revert to any prior time.
- Anaplan is easy to deploy without lots of IT red-tape. If you can write formulas in excel, you can quickly learn to write formulas in Anaplan.
Cons
- I'd like to see a better dashboard design interface. It's functional, and gets the job done, but it doesn't offer much in terms of customizing the look and feel or re-using a standard dashboard template.
- I'd like to see more workflow integration. We use Anaplan to calculate sales quotas but we still have to export all of our data and use mail merging to communicate quotas to our sales teams. Since Anaplan makes the caluclations so easy, doing the mail merge is now the most time-consuming part our process.
- The import/export process is a little limited. It can only import CSV files, and it can't export to XLSX yet even though it's been the Microsoft Excel standard file type for 10 years.
