Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan

Anaplan is used across our whole organisation, and continues to be implemented in our departments. In a nutshell, we are using Anaplan to modernise our existing processes. Many of our previous processes involved manual data manipulation and intervention within Microsoft Excel or other closed-off systems. Anaplan provides a powerful calculation engine that is owned by our business users, with stronger control and scalability than Microsoft Excel and more agility than 'off-the-shelf' solutions.

Pros

  • Data Integrations.
  • Calculations.
  • Scalability.
  • User Security and Access Control.
  • Cloud Platform.

Cons

  • Custom formatting options.
  • Modelling.
  • Cloud Platform.
  • User Access.
  • Data Integration.
  • Consolidated processes across organisation.
  • Standardised organisation definitions.
Modelling, data integrations, and UI design are all extremely easy to pickup, especially with Anaplan's free online training. However, Anaplan can be a difficult platform to fully master due to the breadth of features it includes. On the whole, any excel-savvy user should be able to pickup Anaplan without any issues.
Anaplan outclasses Power BI across modelling capability and data integrations. However, whilst Anaplan has a robust UI and dashboarding, Power BI remains the best-in-class dashboarding experience. Power BI is best suited for dashboarding-only use cases. Anaplan offers a more comprehensive suite of functionality (and unmatched modelling capabilities) which outperform Power BI in all areas except for dashboarding.

Did Anaplan live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Anaplan go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Anaplan again?

Yes

Anaplan is very well suited to processes that are scalable in nature (i.e. there are not a lot of calculation exceptions) and require a cloud solution or collaboration. A strong use case for Anaplan is in Financial Planning & Forecasting, where different members across an organisation collaborate to create a forecast. Anaplan is less suited to processes that have a lot of exceptions in the calculation logic. Indeed, few systems are suited to these processes tend to be manual and small scale.
