Overall Satisfaction with Astra DB

I use Astra DB to store actual & forecasted energy consumption, aggregation & analytical calculations, and data quality validations.
  • Cassandra as a service without any operational efforts
  • Scale to zero for DEV DBs
  • Increased transparency on rate limits/guard rails
  • Better cost analysis reports
  • Positive: Reduce operational efforts

I feel that Astra DB is an almost zero-friction drop-in replacement for self-managed Cassandra - a very good option for developers looking for a serverless NoSQL database.
Except for the implemented guard rails, we never hit any limits - and the guard rails are either there for a reason (to prevent inefficient accesses) or can be increased by support quickly.
Astra DB has better compatibility with OpenSource Cassandra than Amazon DynamoDB.
