Overall Satisfaction with AutoCAD
We use AutoCAD mainly to keep track of our production environment floor plans and edit and swam equipment when we need to. It is really only a 2D software for us, as we use other 3D modeling software to visualize components and hardware.
If a customer absolutely has to send us documentation in AutoCAD, we accept it and translate it to another software for use and manipulation.

- 2D drawings and schematics.
- Lab organization and layout.
- Manufacturing floor layout and design.
- Hard to use the 3D instance
- Engineering of our products make s it difficult to draw from a model.
- Other software is already set up and difficult to displace internally.
- 2D layouts.
- Free version has been sufficient for most users.
- Large format layouts and straw diagrams have been useful and had impact in planning/optimizing - would have sent these out to a consultant if we did not have a seat of AutoCAD.
We use SOLIDWORKS almost exclusively, mainly for 3D modeling and simulation efforts. We cannot use AutoCAD drawings for the engineering work we need to accomplish for our products without a 3D add in - the main benefit to AutoCAD over SOLIDWORKS is that SOLIDWORKS does not do the layout plans and diagrams as easily as AutoCAD.
