Use Cases and Deployment Scope

This product helped us greatly reduce the amount of phishing/scam emails that reach our employee and student email accounts. It currently monitors around 12,000 accounts for us and over the two years we have had it implemented, it has had an amazing success rate at stopping all sorts of potential security issues within our GSuite email deployment.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Phishing/Scam Email detection.
Detection of anomalous account activity (Google GSuite environment).
User Interaction - Notification of quarantined mails is sent to users so they may request restoration.

Cons

I only ever had one complaint, we had a few hiccups during the setup process. We have now been a customer for two years and have had no further issues. It is likely that the setup pain points have now been resolved as well. Overall the product does what it claims while providing a very intuitive interface.

I work in education, K12 to be exact and over the last couple of years, we have increasingly become targets for various campaigns. We do not have resources to waste and have to spend wisely. With that being said, Avanan along with a good AV solution will greatly reduce your attack surface by preventing nefarious emails from reaching your users in the first place. There are many attack vectors but by far the greatest is still through email, Avanan does a very good job of closing that door.
