Overall Satisfaction with Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage

We are using Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage for backups, archiving legacy data, and application storage. Using this for such uses saves a lot of infrastructure cost, as we don't have to build storage infrastructure. It's also a scalable and reliable solution, as we can add additional storage at any time as per the requirement.

Pros

  • Archiving and legacy storage
  • Application and Database backups
  • Storage for large object files like video, images, invoices etc

Cons

  • Deleting the data is not simpler and requires manual intervention
  • Integration with third party tools needs much improvement as there are very less tools that can be integrated.
  • Fewer data centres presently that restrict options to meet specific geographic redundancy or data sovereignty requirements.
  • Affordable storage solution reduced infrastructure cost
  • Developers can use existing APIs to access cloud storage, making the code reusable.
  • It's scalable and reliable, so no additional storage planning is required.
Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage offers affordable pricing compared to its competitors. It's a no brainer storage solution for small scale enterprises. It is widely used for storage media and large object files that can be accessed across the globe.
With all these, there is still some room for improvement over the features and the latency.
Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage provides the flexibility to have a pay-as-you-go model and a fixed-price model. Depending upon our needs, we can choose one. There is no minimum storage duration, so the data can be deleted at any time.
As we have low egress needs, and we require the storage mainly for backups and archives, Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage works best for us.

Its low cost storage acts as a backbone to many small-scale enterprises. However, where low latency in data transfer and more granular permissions over the data are required, in my experience, Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage doesn't fit well.
