Overall Satisfaction with Ellucian Banner

Banner Student is being used across campus. We create programs for banner with our databases. One of the problems is banner the upgrade plan of banner. The banner upgrade process is to frequent. It seems like we are upgrading monthly. Banner is a good product for higher education, simply because of the format the data is in and the ease of pulling data from banner.
  • Ease of querying data from the Oracle database.
  • Allows users to get data fast and effective.
  • Also, is a very good source of data for the student to pull his or her information.
  • Definitely, upgrading frequency.
  • Also, better documentation on the Ellucian website.
  • I would say also, addressing bugs within the program instead of doing a full upgrade.

  • Positive would be the ease at which the student can access data and also the developers that use the data.

Banner Student is better than most of the other products that we have used in the past. It's ease of use tops all the other products that we have purchased in the past. We have never user another product other than Ellucian Banner since I have been there.

Banner allows students easy access to their information. The interface of banner has gotten better since I started using it but still needs work. It could use some improvement in upgrading frequency and improvement of documentation on the website. The overall performance has gotten better from years past.

Using Ellucian Banner

500 - basically all over campus impacting most business functions.
Need to have very good customer service skills and patience with the customer as well as knowledge on the subject.

Banner has become prevalent throughout our University and is widely used everyday, we for that most part can't function without it.

Just my opinion but I think banner allows students, faculty, advisors, and staff make their job easier by using banner on a daily basis.
Don't have any bearing on the selection of the software process.

very satisfied, along with the IT staff and ellucian support the upgrades do very well and have minimum down time.

Change management was a major issue with the implementation - This was a major concern basically because people don't like change and the whole look and feel changed in the previous updates.

A little complex but with support is not that bad.
I think just using ellucian support is the best practice we did.
Yes - we have customized the interface extensively - pretty easy, did some new interfacing for luminis.
No - we have not done any custom code

We purchase our support straight from ellucian. The support has been very good since I have been there and especially with the application that I'm responsible for.
Yes - Most are resolved in a timely manner, however some are resolved in the next version or upgrade.
when we had a problem they specifically sent us some code to run so that we could debug the problem and figure out what was going on.

Ellucian Banner Reliability

being able to scale with hardware was easy and not cumbersome. We were allowed to user virtual machines which made things very scalable.
It's pretty much up all the time.
Has gotten much better due to new hardware.

The tools given are easy to use and support is always there if you need them.

Yes - Smoothly, for the most part there was some downtime but was able to get it online and functioning pretty quickly after the new release.
