Overall Satisfaction with Birst

Birst is being implemented in to help consolidate nearly 100 different customer reporting packages that all have independent sourced data models. With the creation of a new data warehouse we can move to a single center of data and help to limit the number of delivery outlets used by our analysts.
  • Birst has one of the most robust data modeling capabilities in the industry.
  • The visualization engine is among the best in the industry from ease of use and in look and quality.
  • Getting up to speed takes weeks and not months like other BI offerings.
  • Visualizer and Designer offerings need to merge into one product. We shouldn't have to go to 2 different visualization tools to get things into a dashboard.
  • I haven't been impressed with the "major" releases. With each release there are too many bugs that keep the new features from working the way they are promised.
  • Tableau,Qlik,Domo
Tableau is the leader in visualizations, from animation to ease of use, it takes the cake. But they do not (did not) have the data modeling capabilities that were offered with Birst. The step back in visualizations from Birst is more than made up for in their modeling. Qlik is a powerful offering but incredibly difficult to use. The custom language goes against all convention wisdom.
I cannot say yet as we are only beginning our implementation.
Currently we have less than 10 users, but that will grow with our first offering in the next month.
The integrations with our Azure marketplace, SFDC, are easy to get import. It is the developemnt of the logical model that hurts in moving forward.
I think Birst is ideal for a smaller company who is new to a BI department. A company needs to be focused on their long term plan before they choose to go forward with any BI product. I would suggest they look to decide between full on site vs. cloud offerings.
