Overall Satisfaction with Bitbucket
We're using BitBucket for a very long to host our git-based source code repositories in it. Earlier we were using SubVersion (SVN) to manage our source code and we found BitBucket better in all means whether its underneath technology, UI/UX, Security, Collaboration, Commit & merge request, User/Group, and repository management, etc.
- Hosting Source code repositories.
- User and Group management.
- Sending Email notifications on Commits and merges.
- It has a tight integration with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence etc.
- It doesn't have a built in CI/CD.
- It doesn't have anything else other than source code repositories hosting.
- It has stopped support of HTTPs based authentication only SSH is supported.
- Its tight integration with Atlassian tools such as Jenkins and Confluence.
- Its simplicity of managing source code.
- Good User interface and User experience.
- Earlier it was very helpful for us when we migrated to it from SVN to manage our source code at that time it saves a lot of time which was spent in managing users/groups projects and code merging.
When we make the choice of using BitBucket at that time we didn't have a choice. It was better than GitHub but nowadays GitHub is not just a source control tool it's a DevOps platform. If we talk about GitLab it is even better than GitHub. We're in the process to phase out BitBucket and start using GitLab.
